  • Not to me, and I don't believe they should matter, in what is supposed to be a platonic setting. But here's some reading on the subject, as you'll find the answers are varied...

  • Not to me. When it comes to dating, fwb etc I am a little more selective but even then it's much more about the person than the skin suit.

  • This is such a hard question because looks can mean either beauty or cleanliness. Which do you mean?

  • OP clearly means beauty. We had that conversation here more than once.

  • Not looking to be turned on, but I also dont want to be turned off. For example, I wouldnt want to snuggle with the female version of Freddie, Jason, or Jabba, even if they were awesome people. If it was all about just being touched, wed all be open to same sex snuggling, no? The main part of snuggling is feeling comfortable.

  • The poll numbers are pretty interesting and/or telling. Unless someone with 50 duplicate accounts is voting.

Not to me, no, not for platonic cuddling.

  • No, looks don’t matter to me.

There are plenty of us who are open to cuddles with any gender.

  • Looks are something I very much lack.

"Hygiene" = cleanliness. "Looks" = attractiveness.

Lots of us feel that way. But cuddling is about acceptance, and believe me, giving and receiving that is a beautiful thing.

  • I was just talking with a friend about this because I was posting new pictures on here and it is an interesting thing to consider. Obviously my preference is to take and post flattering photos of myself in general, but I want to avoid anything provocative. I already have to field non-platonic messages, so I don't want to further encourage that. But I am also aware that many clients choose to message or book with me because something about me is appealing, and that might be my appearance.

My friend made an interesting point that if you are hiring someone to cuddle, you would want some assurance that they are clean, well groomed, their space is clean and inviting, etc. So that is what I try to convey with my pictures.

But I think cuddling is going to reveal some preferences around appearance, just like the other thread about height, some people prefer to cuddle a specific gender or height or body type. I think preferences are okay, as long as everyone is being intentional about why they are making those decisions and why they want to cuddle that person. Self-reflection is always a good thing, particularly when navigating a space where there is so much platonic intimacy and closeness.

Personally, looks don't matter to me a bit. I will happily cuddle just about anyone! Much more important to me that they are respectful, clean and kind.

  • As a cuddler and a pro, looks don't matter to me. I enjoy cuddling with a wide range of people no matter their looks, age, race, gender, disability, etc.

  • Ideally I don't think it should matter but I think everyone judges, pretty privilege is real.

  • Looks shouldn't matter. I'm looking for a warm body to cuddle. If course the size and shape makes cuddle positions different, but that's the fun and challenge of seeing what we can create.

  • Looks only matter to me when dating and even then it isn't the biggest deal. But this isn't a dating site, so very NO.

  • It don't matter to me. As long as he/she is clean and fresh I don't care. The poll result doesn't surprise me though.

  • Not when it comes to cuddlers, as long as you are not a smoker and you fully understand and accept what the word PLATONIC means...😁🫂

Then we can definitely be cuddle buds! 😁

    Looks matter to me

  • @Katota

This. As a smoker, I don't want to violate the personal space of someone who isn't. That is absolutely not a pleasant smell and I wouldn't expect anyone to tolerate it in their personal bubble

    Of course it matters.

You can deliberately control your initial, instinctive reaction to another human’s physical appearance, and physicality overall, but that first reaction never changes.

Virtually every study done shows that physically attractive people have much more positive interactions with others, and gain tremendous social advantages during interactions.

It all matters, and it is simply biological. Our evolutionary instincts urge us towards attractive (hence the word we use) and repel us from the unattractive.

    It’s not personal, it’s biology.

  • Yes, it matters. Platonic or not, it is much more enjoyable to cuddle with someone who you find aesthetically pleasing.

It also matters whether we're talking about enthusiasts meeting, or a client hiring a pro. If I'm meeting an enthusiast, then looks don't matter very much. But (let the flaming begin!) I'm hiring a pro, then a pleasant appearance is a consideration.

Even though I have no interest in taking this cuddling thing any further than what it is meant for, yes looks do matter to me and a personal connection is a must as well. I feel a strictly platonic relationship between two cuddlers has to be mutually enjoyable

  • @CharlesGrove Agreed. In our interactions with other humans we tend to gravitate towards people we perceive as attractive. Not that we outright reject anyone we don't find attractive, but there is a bias there. There are also situations where someone's personality is what makes them attractive, particularly the more you get to know them. Which ultimately supercedes their physical appearance. Unfortunately not everyone is able to look past the initial physical impression.

  • I voted yes. I make myself look my best and hope that my cuddler is doing the same. I don't like the idea of cuddling with another man because of boundaries. Platonic cuddling isn't sexual but my hope is to get more cuddle time. A great way of making this happen is being sexually attractive.

  • I think hygiene is the most important thing. Every living human being deserves cuddles.

  • Looks don’t matter to me ! Beauty is within. A good heart & sense of humor/good personality can make someone very attractive.

  • edited February 2025

Of course. It's human nature to naturally be drawn ("attracted," as it were) to other humans we find attractive.

Now that varies person by person, everyone's view of attractiveness is unique. But imagine this -- a client looks at two pro profiles which are equivalent in every way -- price, location, karma, photos of the cuddling space, availability, etc. In every case, the client is going to pick the person who is more attractive to them. And that doesn't mean they're looking for something illicit (though it might), but just that if they're spending an hour or two or three cuddled up with someone, if they have a choice to pick someone they find attractive, they will.

Does it mean that looks are the most important thing for a cuddler? I don't think so. I've had a few cuddle sessions with pros I did not find attractive, and in general I've always had good experience. So it isn't a deal breaker, for me. But when asked the question "do looks matter," I have to honestly say they do.

I would also like to add that given a choice between one who is very attractive with no personable qualities versus one who is average on the looks but a real sweetheart when it comes to making you feel comfortable with conversation and laughter while cuddling, I have to believe most will go with the latter.
