Your Cuddling "Origin Story"

I would imagine a topic similar to this has been added here before, but I thought it would be a good idea to share how we all got into cuddling. I’m sure there are some interesting stories out there!

My cuddling story starts in June of 2024 when I ended a 10-year relationship that became rather toxic. In the last couple of years we were together, we never even touched each other. I was not—and still am not—looking for a new relationship, but I really missed just feeling the warmth and comfort of a good cuddle, a loving hug, etc. I didn’t expect there was much I could do about that, unfortunately.

Then about a month later, I was watching a game show on TV, and when asked, one of the contestants stated their occupation was “professional cuddler.” I immediately took notice and said (not sure if it was aloud or in my head) “there are PROFESSIONAL CUDDLERS?!?!” That night I started Googling and found Cuddle Comfort. I signed up, and found some of those cuddles I was craving!

  • I love this thread idea! And I always ask people I meet through here this question, and I love sharing my answer. 😊

I live in Colorado, where psychedelics are legal and we have therapists/doctors providing psychedelic assisted therapy. I am a big advocate for that and in groups talking about psychedelic experiences there was a common thread (particularly among men) that accessing platonic physical affection while under the influence of psychedelics was hugely impactful and healing for them.

I have ALWAYS been a cuddly person. My family is very physically affectionate, I'm snuggly with my friends and that has never been something I struggled with either giving or receiving. So I found this surprising and also felt like it was a need I could fill, without the need for any altering substances.

I have attended group cuddle puddles (without any substances involved) and had informal cuddle experiences with friends and acquaintances, then I found CC. And it has been really a beautiful experience!

  • Thanks for sharing, @AlyLauren. Anyone else?

  • It all started when I was bit by a spider and developed super powers

  • I found out about Professional Cuddling quite by accident going down an Internet rabbit hole!
I came across a YOUTUBE video and I was so intrigued I ended up reaching out to a couple of seasoned pros as well as enthusiasts and having coffee with them just to pick their brains and gain some perspective before deciding to give it a whirl.
That was almost a year ago and since then I quit my "normal job" to cuddle full time!

  • Diagnosed with cancer + sole caregiver for parent with dementia + forced into stressful job + breakup of 10-year relationship = need to be held. It's just math.

My therapist suggested it to me. I thought she was looney tunes. Apparently she wasn't.

@pmvines it surprising how common that one is. For me I was chosen by an ancient mystic totem.

    When I cuddle I turn into…

Cuddling was no longer a choice at that point. It became a part of who I am.

With great fuzziness comes great cuddliness.

  • I would have thought I mentioned it here, but apparently not, so...

I was struggling with insomnia as a side effect of a new med I was on, in April of 2022. As a result, I was laying awake for hours upon hours every night, while my boyfriend and my friends were asleep. One night I was so lonely and just wishing so badly to be held... (I couldn't bear to make my boyfriend lose sleep when he had to get up early for work.)

It reminded me that I'd heard the term "professional cuddling" years prior, so I Googled it. I figured it was a cover for prostitution, but I read up on it and wound up joining this site to see if it truly was platonic. The rest is history, which can be read about in the link above, if anyone so desires. 😁

    @lovingspoonfull
I will be requiring immediate snuggles with your red pandaness, thank you. 🫠 Cannot...resist...da fuzzy!

I actually ask this question as part of my screening :) But I am Brazilian so we are very affectionate people. Being physically affectionate was always in my upbringing. I started to be less affectionate when I entered HighSchool, where I noticed people didn't always want to be hugged. Anytime I met someone new I would try to hug them, and sometimes they would get awkward and let me know they didn't want them. Of course I would respect it and not hug them. After running into this, when first meeting people I would always ask people if they want a handshake or a hug lol. People always laughed! But it helped everything be less awkward while also establishing physical affection as platonic. But I found out about pro cuddling when I was 16 years old in highschool. Saw an article about someone having it as an actual job. I freaked and looked into it. Found cuddle comfort, cuddlist and cuddle sanctuary. Watch a bunch of videos, and practiced sessions with friends until I graduated college. I realized it doesn't work with every friend and became selective. I decided I wanted to do this when I had my own place. Didn't feel comfortable at the time going to peoples homes. Now I do, and here I am! I am still looking into getting a cuddlist certification, but my ongoing training got cancelled and I have to pay again. I get a discount, but it's still 400-600 dollars....so that's on pause until I make tons of money.

  • This goes way back to post grad college, over 40 years ago. I was feeling really down because of things going on in my life, and I was not taking the best care of myself. A lesbian classmate noticed things were off and basically did an intervention. Told me she was taking me to her house, fed me nourishing food, hugged me for a long time and told me I would be spending the night. Because of our different sexuality and the nature of our friendship, we both understood this would be platonic and safe. She cuddled me in her bed, we slept and I woke up with a totally new attitude. The power of empathy and human connection was and is incredibly healing.

Don’t remember how I found the site most likely google but I do remember booking my 1st cuddle session in the most unconventional method. I thought of everything as a menu of cuddlers and didn’t even know I could message one first before booking so there I go sending a cuddle request with no intro message but she accepted the booking she also took a bus to come see me which was close to a 2hr commute which if I would’ve known I would’ve booked someone closer so it wouldn’t be an inconvenience but she followed through we cuddled she said she would leave me positive karma which at the time I had no idea what she was talking about so I just smiled and said ok and the rest is history

  • I was online about a few years ago when I came across a story about a pro cuddler in San Antonio. How she provides platonic cuddles and makes up to $1600 a week. That got me curious and thanks to Google I ran across this site.I joined then I booked my first session.I was a nervous wreck driving to her incall in San Antonio(not the pro in the story,a different one) she meets me outside and walks me in.She knew it was my first time doing this so she eased whatever fears I might've had and I wound up having a great time.Since then for the past two plus years this is something I do from time to time and I enjoy every session I've had.

At a young age, masculine socialization taught me that to be vulnerable and affectionate, to show passion, to express deep love, was to be "less than". I internalized that concept all throughout youth and young adulthood and wondered why I felt like I never had any inner peace. My mental health spiraled. I tried to drink it away and escape with other various distractions, and that didn't work. There were a lot of dark times and it got worse before it got better.

But, eventually, with time and life experience, I was able to phase out of that stage of life and gain a greater understanding of my core needs. Care and affection, especially through physical, in-person presence, is something I thrive on and I am not afraid to revel in that. It's clear to me that we are here to love and be loved, and that can take on many different forms.

I take great comfort and relief in being able to stand in that truth.

  • I just love touch and cuddles. Before I knew about cuddle events and sites like this if I was touch starved I would get my hair done. I didn't care about the cut or color, I just wanted the hair wash and massage that comes with it. Still to this day I ask for hairplay when I am at a cuddle event or at my own events if I have time.

Ever since I was young I loved sleeping in bed next to my parents but as I got older obviously I wasn't allowed to do that, it was something I didn't realize and never really expressed, I was just always drawn to sleeping next to someone, because of my shyness and introversion in my youth I didn't date much, whenever I did date it was the women asking me out and those relationships were often short lived, usually around 6 months, I've found though that animals make great cuddle companions too, I think in all of my relationships I've always been the one that often wanted to lay in bed for hours cuddling, either sleeping, watching a movie, or talking, I find it very satisfying and relaxing.

@pmvines Lol! Whoa, you too friend! 😀💖

    Ahem

I heard (pretty good things about) CC on another social media site, from another site member there. 😁
It took awhile, but I eventually looked CC up and read what it's all about, I liked what I read and decided that I definitely didn't want to be a Cuddle Pro so here I am as a Cuddle Enthusiast. 😁🫂

  • Once upon a time I was a beautiful unicorn with hopes and thought people were good most of the time
