A waste of time.

I've decided to start putting effort into creating youtube content, I've been wanting to do this for a long time but I always put it off, is something more valuable if you can generate money from it compared to gaming and or watching TV, I've put over 100 hours into a game in 3 weeks, also I highly recommend Brotato 🤣

  • Only a small percentage of Youtubers actually make any meaningful money from their work. So be realistic in your expectations, at least initially. On the other hand, you're correct that you don't make money from playing games or watching Tv.

If you don't try, you won't earn anything, so I say go for it! You might be the next big name on Youtube

  • My ex husband had an idea for a you tube channel. I thought, who would be interested in that? Well 2 years later he has been extremely successful considering, has nearly 24k subscribers. Usually 7-8k views per episode or more. Making a really good extra income so it can happen.
    Worth trying!

  • No, not a waste of time.

If you love doing it, it's worth pursuing. We're all very fortunate that we can write our own success story if we're motivated, disciplined, and are willing to learn from our mistakes.

While success is not guaranteed, you won't know unless you try.

    Good luck to you.

Good luck to you, with everything you do, failure is the best measure of success. It’s the best teacher, the best motivator and most ppl fail a LOT PRIOR TO THEIR BIG BREAK!

I hope you have the tenacity to keep going, and if you fall may you fall forward and gain insight to better propel you towards your goals! Keep going at it, post consistently, create TikTok and Instagram accounts to help you promote your YouTube account. Cross reference them all interchangeably and use short clips from your YouTube videos on your TikTok to promote it! Good luck!!

  • Worst that can happen is it won't work out the way you'd hoped. Which doesn't mean it's a waste of time , just a learning experience.

  • Thank you to everyone who has given me tips and encouragement, I'm oddly not use to this, probably a reflection of the facebook groups I choose to spend time on, mostly just nihilism and sarcasm lol

  • I'm oddly not use to this...

There's no shortage of Debbie Downers throwing pity parties, especially online. Stay away from them.

The people and acquaintances we have in real life will influence us to a certain degree---successful people, as well as the chronic failures.

Choose the acquaintances in life who reflect the qualities you want to have.

  • Never take financial advice from poor people, weight loss advice from obese people, or success advice from unsuccessful people.

Seek advice from people who are successful at what you want to do. Most of the time they will be willing to share good advice, especially in a field as broad as YouTube where it is highly unlikely your channel will be a direct competitor of theirs.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, “I never lose, I either win or learn”.

Somebody once said that to Ted Bundy.

  • I have a YouTube channel also, but I'm really bad about doing anything that isn't on the fly or at random. I mostly do tarot and post any twitch sessions to share.
the gaming space is so heavily populated. are you doing simulcast?
I use stramlabs for twitch, and clipchamp for YouTube.
dm me some links, and I'll go give you a follow and listen to a few while I work.

  • @graceangel I haven't even started yet, I have a few ideas, I've done some research, I want to start a few channels, one to for scary stories, one for true crime like serial killers, one for IT related things possibly AI or web development, I have to set goals and be more disciplined.

  • @jmdank this is probably a stupid question and been answered already but do you use twitch? I don't game, not wealthy so certainly can't give advice... I just know thats the spot for monetizing your gaming... YouTube is of I'm not sure how much traffic it gets anymore im sure it's still A LOT. Just a thought

  • That's awesome that you're taking the initiative. Surely in time it will be beneficial to you. 😉

  • Reacting to slop seems to be a really popular trend on YouTube these days. Penguinz0 and Philion are my two favortites.
