Offline / how many friends do you consider yourself to have ?

Are you very social or not so much, does it depend on the day ?

Is making friends easy, does it interest you very much, or do you prefer not to bother ?
Do you think that some seem to make friends quickly and easily, and others seem to struggle ?
It could be that some use the word "friend " much too loosely and easily.
They should use the word, "acquaintance " instead .

I know it is suppose to be that some have trouble with social cues, some have autism or asperger's or some other condition making socialization (apparently ) more difficult - but what if other people are not interested ?

    Exactly. That's what I do.

  • By friend, I mean someone I choose to hangout with and do things together that is outside of family/work/clubs/religion. I have 1 friend.

Three friends left, only one of whom lives near me.

A few acquaintances, and a couple of online art communities via Twitch and Discord.

I had three close friends but two passed recently. I have a bunch of acquaintances that I see regularly at social events.

  • I had lots of Friends but ever since the illicit affair with Phoebe, I am persona non grata with the group.

  • At least 2 friends in person. Possibly 3 or 4 depending on the definition. More acquaintances, family, and co-workers though. And of course a lot more online friends who I talk to and do care about. A few whom I've met once or a few times, but don't live nearby, and a few I've yet to meet, despite talking for a good amount of time.

  • I have 5 friends that are like family and a bunch of friends i truly care about aside from them i would say 20+ but i really only see them when we have parties which are few and far between these days and mostly just keep up with them online between then

  • To quote Tom Waits, everyone I used to know is either dead or in prison.

  • No friends and small, family most of which are abusive

  • "A real friend will help you hide a body."

    Real friends are rare.

People I talk to regularly, very few ... but I am also still very close to a lot of the people I went to high school with.

I used to have so many friends I couldn't go anywhere without having some with me, then I quit drinking and lost 75% of them, then I got divorced and lost 50% of those, then I switched jobs and lost another 50% and before I knew it, I retired and voila, just a couple left lol

    So true

  • I've gotten incredibly private over the years I only have one really good friend. I think it's because of how much energy I pour into the relationship. I am really wanting more people in my life I just don't know how to make that happen as an introvert adult.πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

  • One real friend local here, a few people I want to stay friends with after the end of the school year, and several people far away. I think the real answer is more than I think I do.

  • No not really

  • I have several close friends from my past but find that I need space and make excuses to not socialize with them. I don’t like the drama that some women bring into friendships.
Men are easier to be friends with, not as demanding. And I’m fortunate to have lots of family.

  • I have a large family and many acquaintances and co workers that I’m friendly with. I have 16 employees and deal with a large amount of people at work. The only people I’m really close to are my wife, my brother and my Sister in law. I would say that I have no friends and I’m fine with that. On weekends when I’m off, I’m very happy to spend time with my wife and talk to no one else. Most of the time, once I’m off work, I’m completely talked out and have zero desire to be social. Luckily my wife is the same way but we do enjoy sharing the same space. I’m extremely friendly and have very good social skills but I’m a loner and an introvert.

  • Three friends I've been close to for over 20 years that are chosen family.

I have a few very close friends I've maintained contact with over the years. It can be a little challenging but worth it. Not as many as I'd like though.

Otherwise I have a lot of people I'm friendly wirh based mostly around shared activities. They are great, but I know that if I stop doing the activity then I won't interact with them much or at all.

That is fine and I accept how the various circles of friendships seems to work. I think it is good to be glad for the time and shared interests people are willing to share ... when you do make a close friend try to hold onto them.

  • Work 'friends', quite a few.
    Actual friends...nowhere near enough.

how many friends do you consider yourself to have ?

    😊😊😊

LESS then 10, that awesome LESS put in the work of actually getting to know me versus merely saying "I want to get to know you" while NEVER putting in the effort.πŸ™„πŸ˜

People who say that and do that will never be LESS to me.βœ‹πŸ˜

I am very gratefully appreciative of my LESS! πŸ˜πŸ«‚

I call my LESS on the phone or text them to make sure they are alive and well, and my LESS does the same for Me.😁
I will at times give gifts to my LESS, just because I want to, in my eyes my LESS gets MORE of my love, energy and attention then acquaintances ever will.
    😁β™₯️

Many thanks to those for being my LESS!

I'm probably the worst, if I have a conversation with you, you're my friend.

so..I have learned many lessons and continue to dive in feet first...I may never get it

But If I know you, you can count on me.

    (Having said that, Ok..2 dang)

  • I'd say I have 3, but if we're talking about people I trust and can rely on when needed, the number is closer to 15!

  • I have a lot of acquaintances, but few close friends.

  • not really. I know a lot of people. I host tea parties sometimes, and people will come if invited.
However, the past few years I went thru a few mental breakdowns. I was getting pretty eccentric with everyone openly on fb before almost completely disappearing for a few years.
I seem to have lost almost all of my friends when I posted on fb that I believe a lot of tarot readers have legit gifts of prophecy and shouldn't be demonized how they are.
I also find since I work from home, and I rarely go anywhere these days that making new friends in the real world is a little harder.
I have bod though. my emotional dysregulation sometimes makes it hard to keep them even if it starts off fine.
I'm just not good at small talk or anything meaningless.

  • I would like to add that through cuddling here; I met someone who is quickly becoming one of the best friends I've had since my 20s. if I ever stop coming here, I'll be so thankful for having met him.
a few others almost became good friends but they went back into their lives. I have attachment tendencies, so I'm probably too clingy for good friendships. idk. sometimes I think about finding a new job just to go meet new people and have somewhere to socialize.

  • A ton of work friends/acquaintances and I guess that would include the pros I've cuddle with more than once. But real friends probably 6 in my life. They were there for me when my parents died. One without me knowing it created a GoFundMe account to help pay for my Mom's funeral.FYI if you don't have funeral arrangements taken care of already do it ASAP.because if you don't have any made when that day happens, your gonna add way more stress to an already stressful situation. One volunteered to be a pall bearer at Dad's funeral.I could go on but you get the idea.Friend is a word that's thrown around loosely way too often these days.If someone is willing to help you, stand by you, stick up for you when you're not around no questions asked that's a true friend. And that's what I try to be myself.
