@gem7 just go. I haven't been to Australia but have known millions of Aussies and millions of people who have been. It's safe and friendly, they speak the language. Easiest trip you can make, if not the closest.
And that really is the secret. Just wake up one day, decide, and go. There is nothing to fear but fear itself!
Oh and a brain. You do need a brain. The big airport in Austria genuinely has or had a desk for people who are a syllable short of a country and landed up in the wrong one.
I have already visited over 30 countries, this year will hopefully be Corsica, Portugal and Canada agan. but I am hoping to go to Japan in the next couple of years. One country I won't be visiting at the moment is the States I am afraid. I was there in 1989 and had a fantastic time but the current political climate there is not to my taste
