@HonestSoul I miss He-man. That was a great show. Gargoyles and Jonny Quest were great too. I especially miss Jonny Quest though. The kids show they based off of it afterward wasn't nearly as good; it was pretty disappointing.
Star Wars (original trilogy): lots of childhood memories; I recorded it on VHS and wrecked the tape by replaying certain scenes over and over. I also associate it with ice cream. Really well written story, even if people say it's just the Hero's Journey.
Star Trek (original + next generation): Great character interactions; often thoughtful. Poor red shirts though (the movie Galaxy Quest has lots of references).
Stargate: I still love this series. So many different arcs going on at once; very imaginative; a few bad episodes but mostly excellent. The characters change over time too.
(Translation of third shirt: When you cuddle an Asgard be careful not to squeeze too tight or you might break them).

Star Wars captured my heart over twenty years ago and hasn't stopped fighting for it. On top of that, I get to see my daughter get wrapped up in it. She always wants to play lightsabers with me.
Star Wars has always been and will always be my definitive number one, but I very much enjoy Star Trek, as well, especially the new movies, which are a blast.
Doctor Who - have watched it (on and off) since the very first episode in 1963. Another great British sci-fi series was UFO from 1970-73. Most of the episodes are on YouTube.

I'm a big Transformers fan, but I focus on the comics and toys, not the cartoons or movies. Star Trek is my favorite show to watch.
For movies, it is The MCU as a whole, but I have to specifically mention the Guardians of the Galaxy. For television, it is Doctor Who.
Firefly - Best character development, original story, and deep, dark, twisted plot. A science fiction series about spacejunk scavengers in a solar system with dusty horses and cowboys? Yes please. The recent Star Trek series (Discovery) takes the show up quite a few notches. Surprising story line and well-timed plot development. Also a bit intense. Star Wars has been demoted in my perspective ever since JarJar Binks. Watching 2-dimensional characters eeking out a lengthy yet unimaginative storyline just ruined it for me. The most recent Disney ones are fun, though.

Red Dwarf, a sci-fi comedy. I'm not sure if it's known outside the UK but it's a classic.
(It's definitely better at the comedy than the sci-fi.. Some of the special effects are brilliantly bad!)
@UKGuy @Tallman @sjb1973 I love Doctor Who (grew up with Tom Baker as my "doctor"), Firefly was fun (but I can't handle reavers) and Red Dwarf is very funny.
Another British science fiction series I grew up with was Blakes Seven, which had interesting characters and situations too -- "A show so gloriously low budget that even the apostrophe was missing in its opening."
Hitchiker's Guide (radio series) and audio book
Farscape is definitely up there for me. I’m not sure what it is really. The characters, the “fish out of water” story of a human interacting with all these aliens, Jim Henson creatures, the overall story.
Did anyone say HUMANS? I truly enjoyed that series thus far..
Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits and The Dark Side had some very good sci-fi episodes. I think I've just about watched every episode of them by now. They sometimes have marathons on holiday weekends when they show back-to-back episodes for hours.
Black Mirror because Charlie Brooker is a genius.
Now this one is cool too..
What about Eureka? It seemed good for first season but then I felt it became little too ugly violent to enjoy all episodes..
