Why is it...?

For a cuddle site, people sure are mean and angry here. Why do you think that's the case?

Comments

  • Because they need to be cuddled more than the people that aren't on the site.

In my honest opinion, I feel it might come across that way (I know I can for sure even when it is not my intent) but I think a lot of it is same issue with folks who text instead of call because it's easy to misinterpret intent and emotions. Spirited conversation or disagreements can come across as fighting. The other side to that is there are some emotionally unwell folks because these kind of sites tend to attract it, which means there will be the camp that can become a bit unhinged and shitty and then there is the camp where they feel like everything is triggering them and you have to use the tiniest and lightest of kid gloves . But pretty much In my opinion a lot of people being mean vs not being mean is subjective.

  • then there is the camp where they feel like everything is triggering them and you have to use the tiniest and lightest of kid gloves

I suspect that you nailed it here

  • @CaramelNotes i also remind myself that this site is largely not represented by the forums.

I seem to remember some stats being thrown around but most don’t post. What we have here is a very vocal minority. Myself included, and while I try to keep an even keel, I occasionally find myself deleting a stupid or pointless post I made. πŸ˜‡

Then I walk away from the forum for a bit to recalibrate.

Most of the folks I’ve met have been decent and caring people that just like to cuddle.

It is easy to miscommunicate without the extra valuable context, as was said above by @pmvines , some people are trolls, some live in their trauma and some can’t help but project their worldviews, etc. At the end of the day, this a a really good thing.

I know I can be an argumentative dick and not gonna lie, there are some personalities on here I don't care for and I know that has been heightened since the election with at least some of them. But at end of day I don't have hate for anybody on here or wish anybody harm or ill will. It's all just internet shit. We are more complex than words on a screen.

Because there are people that are mean angry and hateful. When you combine that with their miserable lives and their need to be right all the time you get what you described

  • Some view life, like a gift, as an overflowing glass.

    .
    .
While most see it as a glass half full...
    Or a glass half empty.
    .
    .
Nevertheless for a few--sadly--the glass is broken, bone-dry, buried in the sand.

Even the nicest of places have a few angry people ruining it for everyone else. Sigh.
In my experience it's because...they just can be :/

The forums tend to be the same 12-15 people and some really don't like each other. And some haven't figured out how to just scroll past posts from people they dislike.

  • @WriterGF I totally agree!

I recall various requests to block people in the forums. Kinda on the fence about that one.

@FWCuddles I was one of those people. That's how LinkedIn does it. See, if someone is sending you harassing messages, it's easy enough to get them banned, so no real need to block. And someone looking at your profile doesn't really hurt you any. But if they are just annoying and their posts sets you off (and you don't just scroll past), it's a lot more helpful (and lessens conflicts) if you can't see them. I have only blocked a handful of people on here, but I can pretty much guarantee neither of us was ever going to message the other, so it's largely symbolic.

@WriterGF This is ALL very true, I have only blocked those that have bothered me in my inbox only so far. 😊
But I haven't blocked many from forum interactions, though I have discovered that MANY that I have encountered in the forums have indeed blocked me. Lol! Stealth blocking, I call it. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

  • @WriterGF And you are right, there was zero chance that I would ever private messaged any of them or vice versa. It is what it is...🀷😁🀷😁

@Savi_Luna Pros are not allowed to advertise in forums.

I would venture to say that most people who show anger on this forum wouldn't do it face to face. As Berda on "Two and a Half Men" once quoted, "Phone Cahonies" lol, here it's "forum cahonies"

@easylike Applies to the whole Internet. Go back to the '90s, people weren't walking up to strangers at the grocery store and loudly proclaiming their dislikes. But they'll come online and announce them to a web full of strangers.
