    My mother wasn't THAT BAD with her smoking but I do recall buying cigarettes for her A LOT as a child of the 80s. 😏

  • πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

  • @Katota Haha! I remember my friends would do that too sometimes....and cashiers TOTALLY sold the kids cigarettes!!

    My parents didn't smoke and I was kinda jealous cuz smoking was SO cool....so figured it was just another way my parents were the lamest 🀣🀣🀣

    @RedFox16 Jealous?! πŸ˜†
    Of what? Breathing in your household? πŸ˜–πŸ˜£

    Nah! You didn't miss much your parents did good by not blowing cigarette smoke in your face as as a kid growing up...😜😏

    Being raised by a SMOKER made me the PROUD NONSMOKER THAT I AM TODAY! 😁🚭😁🚭😁🚭

    πŸ˜†

    Thanks Mama! πŸ˜πŸ‘

    Edit: @Katota thnx for the shout out πŸ˜‚

  • Right! And to be even more ridiculous...πŸ˜†

    The teachers would tell us to bring our text books, jackets or book bags to put over our heads. SmhπŸ™„πŸ˜†

    As IF THAT ALONE was suppose to "save us" from ceilings caving in on us had a tornado actually blew the school away. Wow!πŸ€”πŸ˜†

    And my son told today me "how hard school" is. Lol
    Son, you don't know the definition of "school being hard". πŸ˜†

  • HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

    😁

  • @Katota At least in my day (military base schools) they told us to get under our desk in the case of a nuclear attack. Then they would show films of building-less Hiroshima after the bomb.

    This was how I learned logic.

  • @TheFunCartel We used to have practice drills to get under our desks quickly in case of a nuclear bomb attack. (CT public schools)

  • @katota @TheFunCartel @Adragayle i remember questioning the teachers if they really thought those drills (earthquakes and tornados for me - not nuclear attack) would do any good.

    It stumped most of them until one very pragmatic teacher just said it’s not about that. It’s about giving everyone something to do that will keep them busy instead of running around panicked and making things worse.

    I accepted that answer. πŸ˜€

    @TheFunCartel @Adragayle

    Lol! My bad, y'all really had it hard then...Desktops was supposed to be a safety against nuclear bombings? Very logical. Damn.πŸ˜†

    Like I said: "Son, you know nothing about 'school being hard'. πŸ˜†

    @lovingspoonfull Cool, you had a teacher telling you the truth.πŸ˜πŸ‘

    Mine refused to do that, that means admitting that they're LIARS and time wasters to US the children. Lol! Nooo, we can't have that. πŸ‘ŽπŸ˜‘

    I just stayed down with my butt in the air with my jacket over my head, believing that this foolish act (told to me by adults) will be saving my life as a child during a tornado! πŸŒͺοΈπŸ˜†πŸŒͺοΈπŸ˜†πŸŒͺοΈπŸ˜†

    I never thought anything odd about eating one of these back then either. We were grateful to eat ice cream out of a toilet paper roll! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

  • I received none of thatβ€”questioning schools on a military base during war time resulted in a standard answerβ€”because I told you so. I also remember being spanked by a teacher in Arizona with a one inch piece of wood with holes drilled into it because I told him he was shit out of luck because he couldn’t fit under the desk.

    I could identify with the movie β€œDazed and Confused”.

  • because I told you so

    That SO familiar.πŸ˜„
