Just to clarify my earlier answer - I'd love to have a Dire Wolf as a pet. Be so awesome to sic it on door-to-door solicitors!!
@Jubal Even if it's a genuine imitation Dire Wolf, would still be cool.
We have to consider the possibility that creating a werewolf is on the table. Remember, these things are made possible by Gene merging.
An example would be a chimp and a panther. (Holy smokes)
I am a little concerned that there is such a thing as a mad scientist. (And chat GPT 4o ain't making it any more difficult)
I’m basically a werewolf already
@CharlesGrove There has to be a board on what we are allowed to build in the organic realm.
Freedom may need control here.
It's 2025 and we are in GOD mode.
@Dance_Culture To paraphrase the line from Fargo, and uncounted sources prior.
“Everyone thinks that there are rules. There aren’t.”
Not to be a painful realist, but our species invented flamethrowers, nuclear weapons, poison gas, and Musak.
I don’t have high hopes that we will figure it out.
Or, as the great Terry Pratchett explains…
“Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.”
@CharlesGrove
Truth.
This accomplishment is interesting and at the same time, a double edged sword. There is the potential for hackers to gain access to the process. Look at all the claims regarding covid 19 in the early days. Assuming that the scientists have created a correct copy of the dire wolf, its an apex predator. A large apex predator. When the dire wolves mature, sexually, they are likely to lose some of their cuteness. Still, it's pretty interesting.
@GrayMatter Nope, an adult dire wolf would still be super cute. Giving it scritches just becomes more dangerous...like this:
The forbidden scritches...
@wilderdude I don't get it. Are you saying football players are extinct? Pretty sure that's not the case.
If you don't understand it, it's not for you. If you understand it, it's hilarious
@IronLemon The magazine cover is referencing the return of a white player in the cornerback position that doesn't exist today or is very limited.
@wilderdude An evasion, of course. I'll assume it's some kind of racist complaint. You're right, racism isn't for me.
If I'm wrong, you're welcome to explain the joke.
@gem7 Must be from the prehistoric football that evolved into modern-day American football.
Racist? What are you on? Nothing remotely racist about it, unless you're the type that thinks the movie white men can't jump us racist.
Yes the 10k years is a massive exaggeration, that's part of the humor.
lol @wilderdude . This was more of the funny TIME parodies
