May we enjoy our freedom while we can, and may the cost of eggs not bankrupt us.
I was shopping at the super market yesterday and I was able to get a dozen for 4 bucks which is less than the 9 bucks a few months ago
I don't buy eggs often (looks like you don't either), but it looks like prices started dropping after peaking about a month ago. Good news for observant Jews everywhere!
There was a student who was trying to make an airplane. The design seemed good, but every time he tried to get the airplane to fly, the wings would fall off. Frustrated, he went to his Rabbi for advice. "Rabbi," he said, "I'm trying to get my airplane to fly, but every time it takes off, the wings fall off."
The Rabbi closed his eyes and stroked his beard as he pondered this. Eventually, he opened his eyes and said, "Drill a series of small holes where the wings meet the fuselage".
The student was baffled by this, but decided to trust the Rabbi. He built the plane, and drilled a series of small holes where the wings met the fuselage. And then, the day came for the test flight. The plane took off and ... the wings stayed on! He was doing barrel rolls and loop-de-loops and the wings stayed firmly attached the entire time.
After he landed, he sought out the Rabbi again. "Rabbi," he said, "how did you know that drilling holes where the wings meet the fuselage would make them stay on?"
"Well," said the Rabbi, "you know how matzoh never breaks on the perforation..."
!חג פסח שמח @IronLemon - I’ve never heard that joke before. I like it! Our shul tried something new last night & had hidden 30 different Pesach jokes under different plates for people to stand up & read throughout the Seder. Some were good; others didn’t quite hit.
One I remember was: Who is behind Pharaoh’s evil empire?
Darth Seder.

Speaking of good religious jokes, here's some Dark Humor I heard on AM radio out of Detroit about 55 - 60 years ago
A Catholic, Protestant and Jew die and go to heaven and meet St. Peter at the gate
To the Catholic St. Peter says you must pass this simple test to enter Heaven, spell GOD, the Catholic replies that's easy G_O_D! He enters
To the Protestant St. Peter says you must pass this simple test to enter Heaven, spell GOD, the Protestant replies that's easy G_O_D! He enters
To the Jew St. Peter says you must pass this simple test to enter Heaven, spell Chrysanthemum
Boy how times have changed
@easylike Ignoring that there's no St. Peter and no pearly gates, is that joke saying that Jews aren't allowed in Christian heaven?
@IronLemon: That's the way I took it, and it was on a MAJOR Detroit radio station.
I am non religious but have some very close peeps who are of the Jewish faith and wanna wish them all of the good things in this time that is meaningful to them
@easylike And it's funny why? I guess it could be saying christians are too stupid to spell chrysanthemum, but somehow I doubt that's the case.
The best Passover song I've ever heard. Posting it here in case anyone can actually listen to it. Youtube is being wonky for this song for some reason.
And the original.
@IronLemon: Not anymore, Spell Check's got em covered lol
@pmvines: Me as well
@easylike Ah, so the joke is meaningless these days, apart from being hateful toward Jews. Thank you for clarifying.
@Sooson - Our shul doesn’t hide the afikomen, as the belief is it teaches children to steal. Not something I agree with, so we do our own Seder at home for the 2nd night and hide it.
@IronLemon - One way I could see it is that we don’t really have a singular spelling for G-d, and in English, at least in writing it out, most don’t use the vowel. At least, I’d like to hope that was the context, but it’s unlikely. 😢
“Speaking of good religious jokes, here’s one where the punch line is that Jews are hated everywhere! Get it?”
And you @easylike came to the Happy Passover thread to share that?
What is wrong with people?
@MonkeyNeedsAHug: I happen to have Jewish friends and am a staunch supporter of Israel! A little dark humor now and then hurts no one
@easylike so you would share that at a Jewish temple and say a little humor never hurt anyone? What’s your next move…go to a NAACP meeting and tell a slavery joke? This is some of the most tone deaf stuff I have heard on here.
What someone defines as humor says a lot about them. I don’t think you are so dumb that you didn’t know that you were telling an antisemitic joke on a Passover thread. Unfortunately what that says about you is unflattering.
@TheFunCartel: Being in bad taste on a Passover Thread, I'll give you that. My apologies to the entire Jewish community
@easylike admitting a mistake and apologizing is very admirable and something you don’t see much of these days. That’s the way people should handle things—but we all fall short quite often and I include myself. Thank you for taking accountability.
Racist stereotyping isn't allowed in the forums [netrunner]
I may not be Jewish, but I have aunts, an uncle, and 5 1st cousins who are, so Happy Passover! Also happen to love getting matzo from my aunt so I guess it's time to ask her lol. Also @IronLemon, I definitely love creeping death. That album is my favorite Metallica album for sure.
Happy Passover to all the Jewish community.
Happy Passover!!!🎉
@IronLemon Happy Passover! We have gone through so many eggs during Passover, starting with the Seder and matzah ball soup, continuing with matzah brei and various desserts. Cherishing our freedoms, such as they are, while being reminded they must be fought for in every generation. And this is the fifth day of the Omer.
