  • Being alone doesn't make me lonely. I love myself. I love spending time by myself and entertaining myself. I love that my emotional well being doesn't center on the company of others.

  • Obviously my inspo @craM

  • That reminds me of avoidant attachment. You're basically describing their ideal connection. I can say from experience that yes, this exists, but it requires emotional gymnastics to provide.

  • Sí, pero con caveat:
One can be alone but one must not isolate
    Cannot remain stationary
One needs to be out in the open air for this aloneness to be successful

    Otherwise, connect 👉👈

  • Sometimes, embracing solitude offers an unparalleled sense of freedom. When you're alone, every decision, from what to eat for dinner to where to travel next year, rests solely with you. There's no need to compromise, negotiate, or consider anyone else's preferences or schedule. This autonomy fosters a deep connection with your own desires and allows for uninhibited self-discovery. You can pursue passions without judgment, change plans on a whim, and truly live life on your own terms, experiencing a profound sense of liberation that's often diluted in shared experiences.

And if you pass out, there's no one to call 911 :)

  • @WriterGF
Not true anymore. An Apple watch can call 911 for you if it detects a hard fall and you stop moving for 30 seconds after the fall.

@MrPaul Way out of my price range, unfortunately. But thanks for the info.

I believe that feature was available since series 4, so there’s lots of used ones for cheaper. Plus there’s other brands that offer it too.

I personally don’t wear one or any watch for that matter, but if I was a person with a known medical risk, and living alone, I would get one for sure.

  • And if you pass out, there's no one to call 911 :)

    @WriterGF

I was thinking about this the last time my roommate was out of town. 😂💕

  • I gave this perfectly lonely thing a shot and I’d say it did not go well for me 😅. Thought it was fine. It wasn’t.

Fortunately people are very different from each other so some very small number of people would probably be perfectly happy being so isolated.

    ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

@pmvines Same here friend, same here. 😁👍

  • I am definitely not healed enough yet to be ok with being alone for very long. It’s a work in progress.

I have been completely on my own for over 4 years, it absolutely sucks and no, I don't want to "get used to it" I want to have hopes and dreams that things will change. ☺️

  • I think that's on the right track too @DaveLaughs ☺️

Isolating is a trauma response, so it's good to remember to still try to connect with others....but still take space you need (and def space from anyone who caused the trauma 😳)

And @WriterGF I taught my kids how to dial 911 at young ages because I didn't want that to happen 😂🚑

  • Loneliness is what you feel when you believe your aloneness is a problem.
Solitude is what you feel when you see your aloneness as sacred.

    -spoken elsewhere

    ☺️

Being alone is the only way for me to recharge. I don't think I've ever been lonely though.

I've taken care of my elderly parents with dementia for years. I couldn't keep them at home anymore. This week is the first time I've been all by myself & I have to say I could get used to this! 🤔 It's been weird not having to ask someone what they want for dinner. Being a caregiver has always meant putting my needs/wants on the back burner. And now I have to figure out how to grocery shop for myself again. I don't have to take their dietary restrictions into account anymore. It's been really nice having this newfound freedom. Granted I wouldn't have wanted it this way but now that it's here I'm going to take advantage of it.
    This is TMI...

but I pretty much have been walking around the house in my underwear 🤭

  • @MTex

That is exactly me ! I need, and often prefer, my alike time. Because of my profession as well as life stressors I find myself getting giddy at the thought of sitting in my recliner, coffee in hand, watching stupid videos and casually texting occasional memes and gifs

@pmvines Yes! On Monday I couldn't stop crying because I had come home to an empty house. And now today Wednesday I can't stop smiling. 😏

Edit: I thought I should probably clarify. My parents are ok & are being well taken care of.
