Lending people money

  • This year I finally learned my lesson and do not lend money to anyone. Family, friends, love interests, and gosh even cuddlers asked me.

I can't afford the possibility of taking the L.

  • I just say I have gone cashless—paper and digital.

  • If a pro cuddler asked me for a loan, that would be easy. I’d be like ok I’ll purchase X amount of cuddle sessions in advance.

I’ve never asked friends for money, but I did ask a family member to co-sign on my student loans. I’d paid it off years ago. I wouldn’t lend more than $100 and only to certain people. If I didn’t have it to spare I definitely wouldn’t lend money.

  • I learned the hard way never to lend money with the expectation of it being returned. Only give with a desire to help and not expect it back and then be grateful if it is returned by them or another way thRu the universe.

When I used to lend money 💰 (would only lend what I was willing to lose). Currently I just give people what I am willing to lose but have boundaries about how much/how often. Usually the people I give to are going through a perceived hard time. I believe in certain circumstances to help but not enable.

  • A romance scammer wants me to send him $72,000. I think he considers it a gift.

  • @g_w_t_w i was really specific about the small bills though ! 😆🤣😆🤣😇

  • wow @g_w_t_w, that's quite brash asking for 72k. did he build up to that over a long period, lots of texting/calling/etc?

alwyays hear stories about older women getting scammed by people abroad. One that really sticks out to me was about 10 years ago, an indian woman in her late 50s, recent divorcee. She worked in tech and was fairly attractive, hard to believe she'd have to resort to something like that, but some guy fleeced her out of near 100k before the ruse was up.

Such a shame, for everybody out there, there is someone right in your backyard that is a great fit. No need to look towards scammers.

    @wilderdude
Yes actually I’ve been playing him since day 1, when he messaged me on a dating site. I seem to be a magnet to these scammers. I usually just block them immediately, but I was in a mood so I decided to see what he would ask for. It’s unfortunately taken 5 weeks for him to get to this point. Well he’s a “NASA Engineer stranded at McMurdo station in Antarctica” and needs me to pay his way home in a private jet, no less!! He’s just now gotten to the “ask/demand” as of last week.
I’m tired of the whole thing. I have plenty of information to report him. But geez, he just will not let go. I know I need to block him. The whole thing with these people is Just really sad when you think about it. But at least I’m keeping him from actually getting money from someone who doesn’t understand how this whole thing works.
And by the way, I have been contacted by the same type of romance scammers here on CC.
Of course, I report them, they’re easy to spot to me at least.
I’m actually quite good at scam baiting ha ha

@g_w_t_w that is so awesome 🤩
I hope the fella gets home ok ! 👌

  • nasa engineer stranded in antarctica? goddamn, that's a wild story. lol.

  • I thought what I gave him was more than enough to get home.

  • lol yes omg you guys have no idea the things he says. It’s so absurd, but it’s really sad because I know he’s likely in a 3rd World country in a bad situation. But honestly, the things he says, and his lack of understanding of American culture, and he expects me to believe any of it? They have gotten into their minds that all American older men & women are naive and vulnerable. Sadly, I think it’s true of many because it’s worked. Sometimes I just call him out on it and then other times I play him.
Like a real NASA Engineer has no money to get himself home. At the beginning he bragged about owning $6m in 3 properties, yet he wants me to go to the bank and wire him $72,000 - OK!

    OhioMike

You got some money you can loan me , I want to go to more meetups 😂

  • @pmvines Sorry brother but all my dough is in Antarctica right now 🤣

  • And can someone loan me $72,000 ?

  • @g_w_t_w wire me $5000 asap and I will have the $72000 to you right away ok ?

  • @OhioMike
But what if I told you I'm a Nigerian prince and you stand to gain a hefty inheritance ?

  • @pmvines well we all know your already a Prince 🫅 but the other stuff well…😆

  • Because we know that we can 💯 believe what we read online.

  • Mixed results with lending money. One guy at work started asking to borrow money, then he'd pay it back, then ask for more. He ended up owing me $800 at one point.
I did end up getting it back, and we still talk/text. I had to tell him that I wasn't a bank.
He still asks for money on occasion, and I just do responding whenever the topic comes up.
I'll chat about anything else, as soon as he says "can I borrow" he gets radio silence until the subject changes.
Another work guy "borrowed" money, and he's in Canada, so we had to try different platforms to get the transaction to go through. He ended up with twice what he asked for and I haven't heard from him since.

  • @KaaGee you are too nice. 🤗 It’s not a bad thing. My cynical self cringed. I probably need to work on empathy.

@wilderdude I had a female scammer tell me she worked for the UN and was stranded in Europe and could I help.

  • @stormydaycuddle thanks lol
I'm not always nice, I swear

  • @KaaGee

Since @OhioMike has all his tied up in Antarctica would you be able to make me a loan to be paid back in installments and timeline of my choosing 😂

@pmvines you already know you're the exception to all the rules lol
Take what you need, I'll holler when I need it back

  • I have the following comments:
    1. If they need a large amount of money, and are not working, how are they expected to pay you back?
    2. If you lend money, NEVER, repeat, NEVER, loan an amount you can't afford to get back.
    3. Do NOT let your children guilt you into lending/giving them money. I have a friend, her daughter said she needed money to go to work. She said she would pay her back in 1 week, when she got paid. She came close to be evicted, because her daughter didn't give her the money back, like she said she was.
    4. Also NEVER, fall for the I will give it back to you when I get my income tax check. You have been warned.
    5. If you do decide to loan someone money, get it in writing. This way if they do not pay you back, you can always take them to court, and they can't say it was a gift. (learned that from Peoples Court).
    6. If you have children, tell them EARLY, ie, 12 years old.....if you go to jail, or do something stupid, I am not putting up my house for you. My son found this out the hard way, been to jail 3 times, I have yet to give him any money for it.
    7. Church friends are NOT immune to ripping you off, nor are family members ie uncle, aunt, grand children, brother, sister etc. So give/loan with care, no matter the age.

  • A new one here on CC has been messaging me for 2 days, very steadily.
He’s asked a lot of personal questions which is a dead giveaway. Men here who message me generally only talk about themselves and what they want, rarely want to know anything about me. Anyway he’s just told me that he’s an “oil rig worker’. 😁
Watch out people, there are so many of them online!
