Restaurants in Dallas

I’ll be in Dallas, staying in Irving, this Tuesday through Friday for work. Does anyone have any restaurants they can recommend. I’m pretty open minded about food. We get $90 a day per diem. When out on business, I usually do breakfast at the hotel, pay for my own lunch and blow the $90 on dinner. Love to hear your recommendations. Thanks.

    The Ranch in Los Colinas or The Yardhouse in Irving.

    They have restaurants like Nick and Sam, Ocean Prime, Komodo and so many others. Look up DFW restaurant week to look up all the spots. I’ll be glad to join you if you want 😊

    Oh darn, if you're ever in town on a Sunday - the Dallas buddist temple has a food market on Sunday that is delicious, and all the vendors proceeds go back to them. Bring cash.

    Rolands Jamaica chicken is awesome. Their jerk chicken, plantains, and meat pies are my faves

    Tonys pizza and pasta also great, it's in Bedford. Lasagna is awesome as well as their pizza and garlic cheese bread. Often just get the garlic cheese bread and meat sauce.

    If you like Mexican I love taqueria moctezuma. Have a ton of birria items like pizza, burgers, ramen etc.

    Is Roland’s Jamaican Chicken the same as Nando’s? I knew we were getting a Nando’s in Addison but haven’t gone. I ate there a few times in DC. So amazing!

    @g_w_t_w no, nandos is a chain that started in the UK I believe, maybe Africa or maybe by an African immigrant in the UK lol I forget the story exactly. Pretty sure rolands is just a single location, independent

    Love nandos hot sauces, haven't gotten a location in my neck of the woods yet.

    Yes, I have known a little of the history of Nando’s but thanks for that because I didn’t know it all.
    What I wondered is, did we ever get the Nando’s in Addison or idid we get the Rolands instead? I’ll just google lol.
    Maybe they aren’t similar?

    Not similar no, nandos is peri peri, portugese style grilled chicken and rolands is jamacian

    Nandos was originally South African, although it's big here in the UK. The peri-peri (a type of chili) sauce for which it is famous has its origins in the Portuguese colonies of southern Africa.

    Portugal, you will recall, also had colonies in the Americas.

    Nandos menu is an intellectual delight: superficially it looks like an ordinary menu until you realise that every dish is a variant of spicy chicken. They play a little on the Portugese connection.

    If you'd like to try something different, this is a great yemeni restaurant that makes really good food. it's a no frills decor, but the food is solid.

    Fortune house on Greenville is delicious for dim sum and drinks! Very affordable too

    I’m at the airport getting ready to head back to LA. Dallas was HOT lol I’m not used to walking outside at 7am and it already being hot. As far as restaurants, I really didn’t experience anything great. I was working and on the run. I did eat out every meal but nothing horribly exciting. I’ll be back to Dallas in October so I’ll try to do a better job of planning then.

    Next time I’m in Texas I want to eat at a Buc-ee's and then use their restroom. Still on my bucket list 😅

    I seem to be stopping at Buc-ees a lot lately because it’s close to where I live. Gas is usually a good price. On my way home I will stop to get ice for my water bottle and if it’s morning I get a brisket & egg breakfast burrito. They’re amazing!
    Restrooms are fine but I don’t see the big deal about them. It’s a fun place to see an interesting collection of people (Texans 🤠) and Buc-ees stuff.
