Your favourite fragrance/scent when cuddling?

As a pro I have to consider that my clients may be allergic to synthetic parfums, but I often am requested sometimes to wear Chanel No 5, or a Bath & Body Works spray, or something similar to enhance the sensory experience. I love bringing scent into a session because it has a nice calming effect on the mind, in my opinion. I especially really admire eucalyptus & mint, or light and earthy fragrances like Kanon's "Norwegian Wood", which my husband puts on when we have a cuddle before sleep. I have one client who wears Calvin Klein's "Obsession", which is a bit strong but nostalgic for me as it's what my stepfather always put on, and always thought it smelled like the best men's fragrance ever.

I am also a huuuuuuuge fan of incense and candles. As a kid I used to collect tealights and Yankees and light them all the time.

Is there a specific scent you like to come into contact with when you cuddle (lavender, rose, pine, sandalwood, etc)?

Vetiver is good (think vanilla). Vetiver will last a little longer than most EOs since it is very resinous.
Ylang ylang & Jasmine are alluring but also calming and pleasant.
Chamomile is very restful, but not everyone likes to smell like afternoon tea.
Walnut Oil makes a great carrier which easily absorbs into the skin and is much less greasy than some others.
I have almost 40 different EOs available to me, and love to use them for various purposes.

  • Axe body spray!! (nah just kidding) I don't like anything too far removed from a natural normal scent. So I honestly don't know whether I have ever thought about what I like or dislike really, just so long as it is not overwhelming and unnatural

100% on jasmine... That reminds me, I have some EOs I bought from the drugstore some years ago, they were just Healing Garden brand but still very nice to waft in. Each one is labeled with a specific mood, "calming, enlightening, romantic, energetic..." though I can't remember which scent belongs to which... they are strewn all over my house, some probably in a moving box. I do know that "enlightening" contained jasmine, and maybe infused with some green tea extract.

Ugggggh. I agree on anything being too overpowering. I have cuddled with some who smelled like they quite literally showered in Axe, and I couldn't stand it so had to excuse myself early politely, or request that they shower some of it off. I do like to experience the natural pheromones too. Something funny I have noticed - I had one client some time ago who ended up being a complete d-bag attitude-wise once pleasantries were over with and we were in-session, and he happened to be quite fond of collecting colognes and various fragrances. He had one I really quite liked, but as the hour went on I really couldn't stand his poor attitude and as a result, the scent was sickening. When I took my clothes home to wash, instead of smelling normal and pleasant, it was just this ugly, smothering stench and I think it's because he was such a difficult person to be around, that his behaviour negatively impacted my perception of how pleasant that smell had been previously.

If you find the "enlightening" one first, you should be able to remember where the rest of them are! (grin)

  • @Catloaf A friend at work gave me some type of body spray type stuff, not really cologne but meant for low level use. I don't know what it is called or what brand. It is a natural citrus type thing, not over powering, just enough where if my arm is up against you then it may smell like I had been eating something. I have been told it smells nice. Not something I wear out or anything but have worn it a few times after a shower.

  • @pmvines Honestly, body sprays are the best to use on a daily basis, and I find they have more unique scents than regular perfumes. They also tend to last longer for those of us who pinch our pockets a little much. :p

    @galowglass

I am putting my money on "calming" being lavender, as the tube had a purple sprig design. Energetic had an orange... and Romantic I think was rose, or peony or something pink.

What a deep...dish thought. When do I not enjoy running into pizza?

  • Nothing too strong. Make sure you've taken a shower or bath before cuddling and use deodorant and you're good to go. Brush your teeth as well, now that I think about it.

  • I did see a bacon scented body spray once

  • @pmvines I hope nobody ever wears that because I would go carnal... For the bacon that is!!

  • None, because I am allergic to perfumes. I am not allergic to the fragrance from real flowers and my favourite is Honeysuckle.

  • I agree that lighter fragrances are going to be more widely agreeable. I also try to leave at least half an hour between putting on perfumes and meeting people, because I find the fragrances is able to settle.

I hate lavender, which seems to be sold as 'relaxing' or 'sleep inducing'. Every Christmas somebody gets me some kind of Lavender bath product and I end up regifting it.

  • Ooh! I looove scents. Well, not all of them. Probably not most of them..l but I love playing with them.

Before I professionally cuddled, I did farmer’s markets and Etsy for my organic bath and body company. (Small scale, all handmade, but really high quality.) I’ve been making soap (lye-based, like you find at Whole Foods and the like) since 2007! So, I’ve gotten to play with a lot of scents.

My favorite scents are incense-like scents (like sandalwood and nag champa), spices (cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, cardamom), and some citrus — I have a scent combo of patchouli, sweet orange, and cinnamon that is really nice. Even people who don’t like patchouli usually like that one!

For cuddling, I usually stick to lighter scents. I use a hair oil that has lavender, jasmine, and yang, ylang in it. And a lotion that is lavender, jasmine, and vanilla. They don’t smell like perfume because they’re natural and there’s no alcohol or phthalate in it that give it that long-lasting, strong, and slightly ozone-scent. I do ask clients if they’re okay with it.

And when I cuddle I bring Aveda’s hand lotion and foot lotion. They are both earthy spa scents (again, natural scents, not artificial). The foot lotion has peppermint, too.

And I just got an aromatherapy diffuser that I brought with me to my last appointment. I made a blend of lavender and vanilla. (Vanilla doesn’t have an essential oil, it is an absolute, thankfully you have to use very, very small amounts because it’s spendy. I used 4 parts lavender to 1 part vanilla and the vanilla was still the dominating scent. Maybe I’ll try vetiver!

Altogether, I have a lot of oils and in large quantities from the business, so I like the diffuser because I can change the scent to fit the client’s desire. Also, it’s economical compared to candles. (Which I also love, but nice soy ones are more expensive, sometimes the ‘throw’ isn’t great, and I worry a little bit about liability.)

  • I’ve never enjoyed wor scents. Some of the finest women’s perfumes turn to skunk spray when mixed wth sweat. I never wear cologne or after-shave. If my friend HAS to burn a scented candle, nothing floral. Pumpkin Spice, or???

I still can’t believe I’m the only one who said Pizza!

  • I have a sensitivity to fragrances. I have to avoid them.

  • I love scents. Though some women's perfumes can be a bit much. Honestly I prefer the natural scent of a woman... Bring on the pheromones! I do find channel no 5 to be nostalgic for me. Scent is tied to memories. That being said I'd totally be fine with a woman smelling like pizza or vanilla birthday cake. Lol. More seriously though, jasmine, lemon verbena or vanilla do smell lovely on a woman.

I personally wear slightly watered down patchouli essential oil suspended in coconut oil. It's great for your hair and skin and light enough to not leave you greasy. Its earthy, a little musky, and sweet. I always get positive feedback on it in cuddle sessions and just in general. It's pleasant, not overpowering, natural, and soothing. Women respond well to it though I met one who was extremely sensitive to scents who said she found it slightly irritating though not nearly as bad as say curve cologne or axe or something of the sort.

Keep it natural ladies and gents!

I always ask my clients the day before a session if they prefer I wear no perfumes or scented lotions. Just as I do with the fact that I have cats, asking them if they have any sensitivity or allergies.
I always light candles but not overly scented perfume smelling ones. More like crisp linen or something of that nature.
I’ve never been asked to wear a specific fragrance. I have had clients who like me to dress up and take me to dinner before the session. I even had one gentleman ask if I could wear no makeup, like I am in one of my bio pics.

    eau-de-feline! Argh!
(allergic to cats. but, getting better in my old age.)

  • Hate scents and have noticed that even those that seem subtle at first change chemically with the heat of two bodies, with light sweat, to become clinging and intrusive. With a lover it's nice to luxuriate in their scent after intimacy, but with cuddling there are those subtle barriers we respect, and not smelling like my cuddler afterwards is one of them.

  • Aromatics Elixier by Clinique. Very polarizing but very me...

  • For an atmosphere it is a jasmine/ tangerine mix. A beautiful contradiction that works so well.

  • Did I mention pizza?

  • im not a huge scent person during cuddling but fresh sheets works great. the smell of it.

  • I love for my cuddling partner to wear Red Door for me

  • [Deleted User]creedhands (deleted user)

How about the smell of a new car? Or freshly printed money? But seriously- I have always liked lilac, but I have not been able to find any in the past few years. So my second choice is vanilla. I have an extremely sensitive sniffer, so my cuddle buddy should definitely not smell offensive. (I have been known to vomit after being near people with too much BO)

Shower, clean clothes, and a hint of body spray or scented hair oil. That's my way to go. Though it is important to get an okay from your cuddle partner if you are going to wear anything scented. To rule out any allergy. Or change if they are bothered by. :)

@pmvines lol I used to wear Axe a bit, I am okay with it. Though I prefer Old Spice, I wear occasionally. ?

  • Yup I’m big on the scented candles 🕯 & she doesn’t have to wear anything specific I just want her to be clean.
