@LadyVel your doctor cannot withhold information from you, if you ask to see your medical records they must provide them. Not sure why he would try to withhold that information from you, it is 100% your right to know.

A- just donated yesterday! And I like the visuals @LadyVel very informative. I also enjoy giving double red cells as it helps newborns. I wish The Blood Connection recorded how much we've given over the years!

I have no idea. I did a DNA test once but they never listed my blood type. I did find out my ancestors were from England and Scotland and a little dab of American Indian

Careful what you wish for. I was a straight A well-adjusted kid in college, but when I found out I was B positive I was never the same again.
I actually don't remember what mine is LOL 👀 For most of my life I haven't been allowed to donate blood since I had lived in Europe as a kiddo (in the 80s) and was "slightly, possibly" exposed to mad cow disease.
In my twenties, I remember that I read something about the ban only being concerned with people who had lived in the UK, ireland and France. So since I lived in Germany, I went to try to donate blood one time (cuz who on earth doesn't want my blood?). 😉 Well, I got shut down the instant they heard that I lived anywhere in Europe during that time frame LOL 😬
The person kinda kicked me out of their cool Red Cross RV ....not gonna lie, that stung a little 😥
The ban was only just lifted a few years back and they now say that they finally realize there's "negligible" change of mad cow being shared through donating blood. After they told us for decades that we would absolutely kill everybody if we donated blood 🤷♀️🩸
Guess I'm a little wary now....🙃
TL;DR: Banned from donating blood for decades thanks to Mad cow disease in Europe in the 80s 🐄 Tried once, got kicked out. Ban only just lifted so I guess my blood’s safe now 🤷♀️🩸.
@RedFox16 I don't remember the question exactly but I think it now asks if you've had any travel /lived abroad in the last year and depending on location it can affect your donation until the time span is up.
You can always call and talk with them to see if you would be eligible.
It depends on where you donate i think. My blood donation center still has a question about whether you traveled to UK or Ireland during a certain period, which I believe is when mad cow was a thing.

Having more than one sexual partner in such a short period of time puts a person at a higher risk of exposure to HIV …
I'd love to donate. The experience (beyond helping others) would be on my bucket list but I was diagnosed with diabetes on my 40th bday. I have since reversed this.
Wonder if I can now? Am I marked for life?

@SweetCuddler33 3 months isn't a short period of time. Risk is negligible, also they screen all donors

@wilderdude yes , all donors are screened of course and that is one of the things they ask., in your earlier post you said you noticed that your donation center asked donors if they had more than one sexual partner in the last three months..
