I agree. It should have some icon that shows if the person is live. This should have a "page" for live online.
Easiest way to find someone in your area that is/was recently on the site is to go to the Cuddlers search section of the site. It auto-sorts by the last active members on the site so the top row are the ones in your area to login to their account. You can also go to the Home page and there are several members in the New Cuddlers that were recently on the site as well. As for an active "these people are online right now", there isn't anything like that in use on the site and, as far as I know, nothing like it coming. In fact, having something like that is a double-edged sword because some times members simply want to login and check a couple messages or Pros may want to double check a scheduled session only to have another member see they were on minutes ago and wonder why they haven't responded and things can do downhill from there. Feel free to check out this discussion and make any suggestions you'd like though! Mark (the site owner) is good about looking through there and responding to input.
