I’ve been away from coworker drama for a while, but here’s a little story… I made a playful joke, and a few coworkers decided to overreact. They even went to the director saying I had been offensive, even though I hadn’t been. Ironically, they had made jokes about the same topics themselves. I was really upset, and my friend told me to ‘just be sweet.’ I thought, okay, I can be sweet, but we’re definitely not friends.
Later, at a little barbecue, the same coworkers tried to apologize like everything was fine. I looked at them and asked, ‘Are we cool?’ And they said, ‘Are we cool?’ Nope. Not cool. I was there to enjoy myself and hang out with everyone else, not them.
Some coworkers really thrive on drama, and it’s both funny and frustrating. Has anyone else had a ‘barbecue apology’ moment like this?
