Can anyone suggest lobbies in Manhattan hotels where cuddling would be conducive? And front desk would not be on our radar if we weren’t a guest of the hotel? Looking for free alternatives that aren’t coffee shops. Ty everyone!

Hotel lobbies in Manhattan are not a good cuddle space.
The lobby of the Waldorf Astoria is huge and inviting. Unfortunately, the Hyatt Grand Central has been "Gatekept" by strict attendants for some time now. Guests only - they must show a room key. Wasn't too long ago that anyone could walk in, have a sit, use their luxe restrooms, etc...
Having worked in hotels, I would not recommend using hotel lobbies. The amenities are intended for paying guests, not the public. Better to find public spaces paid for by taxes, or spend the money to rent a space 🤷🏻♀️
Most of the smaller boutique hotels in NYC are open to working entrepreneurs or cuddling couples in their lobbies and open spaces, as long as you are spending some money on drinks or their coffee shop. They love their spaces full of people, that also attract business to the hotels. On the other hand, many bars in the city have cozy corners or dark nooks where cuddling would be easy to do. The problem with free is that they come with more trouble than they are worth. Going somewhere and spending a few $$'s takes away the hassles that come with free. You get what you pay for!
One thing to note, and I know some of the hotel people here will chime in on this. If they see the same person with different partners all the time cuddling them in their lobbies and not spending any money, they will probably think they are escorts or sex workers. Again, spend a few dollars and they won't bother you.
BTW - Funny the Hyatt Grand Central and Waldorf were listed here. Having done a lot of business in NYC, I used to use them and the Roosevelt as my hang-outs between meetings, all gone now. One other thing, there are some co-workspaces that offer phone booth size meeting areas for 1-2 people and light cuddling could be done there also, of course for a small fee.
We’ll just be cognizant of the rambunctious college students especially around Aggieville, but other than that just about any hotel in Manhattan will allow a paying guest to entertain a friend in the lobby. If you get bored you can tour General George Armstrong Custer’s house at nearby Ft. Reilly. Enjoy Manhattan, KS.
