Worldwide peace for an hour (A Christmas Dream)

This is a long shot, (and may seem silly to some) but what if we could in every time zone in every part of the world, for one hour set aside by our calendars, be the kind giving respectful humans that we want to be. A global event. All that we would need would be a social media name and platform.

This event would apply to every human on the planet earth. If we wanted it, that is. Once we have a date and time, we could personally be responsible for a nurturing, honest vibration that included our actions.

If anyone is interested in helping start this I would love to hear suggestions for a path.

    This isn't for profit, gain of any kind, social positioning or leverage. This is a genuine effort seeking genuine people. This is solely for the growth of human understanding and empathy.

    This could be a worldwide effort starting here, for the sole purpose of connecting with those that will show the world that for one hour (date to be established) we can be the people that we want to be to each other.

    What do you have to sign? Nothing

    What do you have to do? Nothing, except be cordial to your fellow person.

    What fees apply? None.

    One hour is all we ask.

    Is that the guy from Survivor? Can’t think of his name but I really disliked him. So annoying.
    Anyway, in general I try to be nice and caring to everyone when I’m out, not only for 1 hour. It’s not that hard and wearing a smile really helps.

    It is Qui Gon Jynn from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. You may also recognize the actor from Taken and more recently The Naked Gun reboot movie. He's in a bunch of other stuff too...

    Ok so not the Survivor show contestant that I was thinking of. Looks a lot like him.
    So that’s Liam Neeson I guess. Didn’t realize how much they look alike (to me at least). Anyway I’ve always been a big fan of him and seen most of his movies. I didn’t make the connection. Thanks for clarifying!

    You are most welcome😄. Yes, that is correct. I hadn't actually really seen survivor, so I was not certain who you were referring to. (Hopefully you saw my comment, outside of the spoiler part, as the joke it was intended to be. 🙂 ... the spoiler was my real answer.)

    I was about to use a completely different (one of a gladiator just come out arms ready). But then I realized I read TheFunCartel's comment incorrectly.

    This scene in the gif is where the jedi and Darth Maul have to pause the battle because of a barrier put between them. So Qui Gon lowers his weapon and meditates. (It felt the most appropriate.)

    It’s been a very long time since I watched Star Wars (the original) and none of the others since but I’ll eventually watch.

    Hmmmm..maybe a poll? I'm more interested in how many can just "say" they want to participate..(and really) actually doing it is a longshot

    I really believe that, all that people have to do to have peace on this earth, is:

    Want it.

    Is it because the majority would lose too much power to get it?

    And...I also understand that you'd have to come from a position of forgetting any past everything ever. (?)

    Which is impossible for most. All I really require personally, is kindness and all is forgiven. Any misunderstandings, deeds or coincidence really is a matter of points of view.

    (Of course there are exceptions)
    But for the most part we operate under social pressure.

    So if we pretend it's really Christmas and we really want peace for an hour, it could happen.

    Can we actually say we want it...amazing to me that we are here. Metaphorically.

    We would, to achieve this however, have to start with our memories.

    Even if you could pull that off, it would be 100% symbolic and 0% impactful. Human nature is what it is. By default, I'm kind and respectful so this Kumbaya moment would mean nothing.

    A Christmas "Dream" it is. I appreciate the sentiment behind this, but as @btc13 said, human nature fights against this. The various attempts (and failures) at Utopian societies in the 19th/20th Centuries bear this out.

    It's a very nice thought, but I agree with @btc13 , it would only make the relatively small number of participants feel good just temporarily.

    Many places around the world have been plunged into conflict and darkness, with little to no resources, and no internet or ability to read this thread. Millions of people won't even know about this "event."

    Instead, be kind to strangers, help your neighbors, appreciate those genuine friends, and cherish your family.

    How pointless is a kind word? It flows into the air and dissappears. Nobody gets paid, nobody receives food or a house, or a car.

    Yet if it is maintained, it facilitates bigger things. It may be the most important thing that a person can do for others. Just being receptive to positive vibes.

    If we want to measure results, there are always charities and things...I'm talking about a shift in what you want from yourself in general terms.

    We don't have to DO anything.... except think about it. (and feel)

    Darkeyed_male, I wish you all the success in spreading the word about this event to all corners of the world and organizing this massive undertaking.

    I'm sure it won't be easy, but you will certainly get the well-deserved credit for it. More importantly, the world---for at least an hour---will hopefully be a better place.

    Admittedly, I don't know anything about "exchanging vibrations," but let us know when you've got that time & date nailed down, and I'll do the best vibrating I can.

    What would peace look like? The concept itself is subjective. One person’s peace is another’s inaction. Even kindness is subjective. Tipping someone big is a kind gesture but in other countries it is rude and uncouth.

    I agree with @txtom on this one—control your words and actions in your own sphere of influence. Set an example of what peace and kindness look like for you. Sowing the seeds of peace through your actions and words perpetuates long term peace more than a performative time-restricted gesture that few will remember a week later.

    I get the intention and I agree with what @btc13 said about it being more symbolic than anything. “World peace for an hour” feels more like a feel good idea than anything real. Conflict doesn’t just exist because people choose violence. It’s tied to systems like wealth hoarding by elites, poverty, for profit prisons, resource exploitation, etc.

    An hour of peace without changing any of that just pauses the noise while the same machinery keeps running. Real peace isn’t a moment or a wish. It is a long term structural change that actually removes the conditions that create conflict in the first place.

    On a positive note this might help bring awareness to it. Wishing you success!
