Natural reaction to Great Cuddle Time - Kissing forehead or cheek or shoulder out of affection......

[Deleted User]choicesvital (deleted user)

I was in a conversation with couple of my cuddle buddies and topic of kissing (non-sexual, not lip kissing) came up during cuddling. There was a discussion around if kissing forehead or cheek or even shoulder of your cuddle buddy as a way to express gratitude for a great Cuddle time is appropriate or not. Well whenever I get such discussion topics, I end up posting out here to get opinions, thoughts, reactions. So what do you think? - Each of your opinion matters!

  • Only as a natural expression of the great cuddle though, this shouldn't be something that one partner should lead with.
NOT often either, when I'm with my family or better yet my friends that feel like family a kiss is always accepted and enjoyed but infrequently and only on certain occasions. So yes, in the right context it is a perfect accompaniment.

Pretty-much crosses a line for me, unless I know them from some other context, in which it's appropriate.
There ARE a few people here, men and women, that I would probably give them an immediate hug, if I ever met them.
If they were european, I wouldn't have any issue with the double/triple greeting kiss. I've experienced that a lot and it isn't remotely (in most cases) related to sex. But it is related to deep friendships and connection.

  • Platonic kisses are tricky because regardless of how platonic the intention may be, folks can get out of hand with it.

  • Mmm, I wouldn't kiss someone I just met here, probably. I hugged a friend of mine once and kissed her forehead without really thinking about. She's shorter than I am, like my little sister, and I was comforting her -- it was just sort of a natural response. (I had a silent oh shit moment, but it was fine, she didn't mind at all XD) But I know her and we're comfortable with each other.

I could see a kiss on the hand or forehead or cheek as an expression of gratitude after or near the end of the session, maybe? lol, I dunno. Anything else might freak me out, personally.

  • I believe all kissing is prohibited by the terms of this site. And since it does not specify the type of kissing, I presume it means all kissing.

It's very interesting that lots of folks are participating in the Poll but comparatively very few folks sharing their thoughts and ideas! Polls are showing pretty interesting results in a way speaking for it but would be also great to hear what others have to say.. and I cannot believe that out of so many folks still ~12% of the folks took the polls and selected - "I was here but I won’t tell my opinion ;-) .. LOL" .. I have no idea why I keep leaving that option in all my Polls ;-) ..

I've been kissed on the forehead by a cuddler and wasn't bothered by it an ounce. It made me feel particularly trusted.

As one who works with affection-hungry teens, there are times when a fatherly kiss on the forehead is appropriate and appreciated. But an appropriately well-established relationship is in place. I think the nature of the relationships we develop here speeds up the familiarization process as the one-on-one dialogue can deepen quickly. That being said, there may be times that feel appropriate to give a kiss on the forehead or cheek. But the rules here are clear that such a moment should be left to pass.

  • Okay, I said I wasn’t going to give my opinion, if OP is tracking who said what, but I’m going to put my two cents in. I think in rare situations, it might be okay. But I’ve watched so many dirty old men give an “innocent kiss” to a waitress, bartender, other person who feels she can’t object, I say keep your lips to yourself.

  • I was with one pro cuddler, everything clicked between us. I felt so comfortable and relaxed and I did kiss her on the forehead and it felt innocent and I didn't even ask her if it was okay and she didn't do anything either.

@creedhands very well stated and I agree. I think OP (original poster, right?) Does indeed mean as an affectionate platonic only expression. Especially if someone has possible anxiety issues, or if the dynamic is of older/younger cuddle pair. That parental or sibling type kiss, not on the lips, is a natural step toward trust and calm.

But I will now go read the rules mentioned a few times above. Noticed this as an interesting topic that popped up on my home page.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the amount of voting poll participation on this one! Also, the voting results speaks for the majority opinion that is interesting!

It is interesting seeing the responses! I'm a hugger and usually along with the hello and goodbye, there is a cheek kiss. I don't even think twice, it is normal for me. I love people! Of course, I do have friends that kiss me on the lips, again, it is non-sexual but being loving people, it just shows the affection to each other. I think everyone has different feelings with what they are comfortable with so out of respect, I would ask the person if they would mind and I would have to have some kind of indication that they are comfortable with me before even thinking of it. But I like that everyone here has respectful dialog! :)

  • For me, kissing her forehead is my way of saying “thank you/I have affection for you and I want you to know it” as we part ways. I did it with only one person for whom I had a very strong (platonic) affection, however.

In and of itself I don't really like kissing. It makes me feel incredibly awkward. However, if I'm good friends with someone and they give me a kiss on my forehead, the crown of my head, or a cheek-to-cheek kiss then I'm okay with it. In fact, I quite like it! For me, it would all depend on the context of the friendship. If I've been friends with someone for more than a year and they give me a good-bye hug and kiss me on the crown of my head then yeah, I'm cool with it. It makes me smile. Outside of that? Ehhhhh, keep your lips to yourself.

For myself, cheek and forehead kisses from friends and acquaintances are not uncommon or disliked. Shoulder kisses are crossing a line however, but that's my humble opinion and to be discussed between whoever is involved. Physical displays of gratitude are always appreciated, just be aware of how you apply them ^_^

I'm not much of a kisser (in fact, if you try for my lips, I'll bite you); but I did once kiss someone I was cuddling with on the forehead without thinking about it. He reminded me very strongly of one of my brothers, see. I was briefly horrified once my brain caught up with my face, but he was okay with it. Mostly I don't do that. Seems like a good way to pick up bacteria. Getting a kiss on the forehead or the top of the head, though—that's fine. I don't mind that.

    This has been my vote.
