If someone blocks you does that hurt your standing

So reading the review of a pro left for a fellow cuddler who we have seen a lot of the same people, I figured he saw this one pro, so let me see if they would be a good fit for me. I click on their profile and I'm told I'm blocked.

Wait? What? I had to do a double take because all my interactions on this site have been positive and above board.

I never met them, I never scheduled with them, I never communicated with them.

I honestly can't think of anything I could have reasonable done to get them to block me. Maybe I visited their page before but didn't reach out to them, or maybe they saw a something I posted in the forums (although I try not to be offensive) and they were offended. Or maybe they saw "that guy is wearing a vest in a picture, he's probably bad news."

I'm disappointed but it's okay. They can block me for whatever reason want and I never need to know.

But I am worried that because they blocked me, it is like a mark against me in being on this site. In which case I feel I should be able to speak up for myself.

    No one keeps track of who's been blocked. It's not a cause for concern.

    If you had zero interactions from this person, then that person likely saw your profile and decided that a cuddle would never happen. Some people use blocks that way. (Or it could be something adjacent to that).

    The only one who has a list of blocked people is the person who is blocking; and that person only sees who that person actually blocked.

    I understand the shock of being blocked but you don't really have anything to worry about.

    thanks guys. I know that certain behaviors can get you banned from this site and that's valid, and they are things I would not do. But I was worried maybe if you are blocked it can be viewed the same way. I probably worried over nothing but at a quick glance I couldn't find anything to explain one way or another.

    Previous threads on this topic have revealed two things. Firstly, blocking is almost invariably about the blocker, not the blockee. And secondly, if you were stranded on a desert island for twenty years with the thirty smartest people on earth, you wouldn't even get close to being able to imagine all the reasons why people block.

    Blocking is very common on all social media sites and this one is no exception. Everybody who has been on this site for more than five minutes has been blocked.

    It's only obliquely relevant, but this is a useful point about life in general. I prepare students for entry interviews at the top universities. I tell them that even if you are objectively the best candidate the university has ever had, that does not guarantee admission. If the interviewer caught their partner cheating this morning, and you are wearing an identical copy of the partner's favourite top/shirt ... you ain't gonna get in.

    To put it another way, if you're wearing that shirt in your profile photo, you're in line for being blocked.

    I'm not so sure there, Skipper. Over twenty years, the thirty-one of us could pretty much cover all the bases, I think.

    @TxTom actually, in that particular case, you'd probably have a better chance with 15 smart and 15 really, really dumb people. It's the dumb reasons that you'd struggle to think of.
