How comfortable is a quiet cuddle?

How much do you enjoy a quiet cuddle moment?
Can you sit with silence and enjoy the peace endlessly or does the urge to say something ultimately feel like a tension that needs to break?

I'm not bothered by silence, but a complete lack of conversation during a cuddle -- especially if it's with someone I barely know -- would be weird to me.

  • Some talking here and there is perfect. But complete silence the whole session? Sounds horrible lol. At least toss on a movie.

  • Silence only works if we know each other. At that point, words aren't needed. For new cuddle friends I tend to talk more then I would normally to make sure they are comfortable. A good mix of both depending on the comfort level.

  • When I practiced cuddling skills at the morgue I preferred my cuddle partners to be silent. Otherwise I would get creeped out.

  • @TheFunCartel I have been wondering how can I find clients from there. I haven’t had the pleasure.

However to answer the question… it all depends on the partner. For me, there is no one answer fits all.

  • The best part about cuddling in a morgue..
    Remains to be seen.

  • I personally prefer pure silence, either music with little to no lyrics or no music at all so I can hear natural outdoor sounds. Like when someone opens a window so I can feel and hear the beach waves/breeze, the birds chirping, rain, thunder, and so on. None of that feels awkward to me unless they have an unpleasant body odor. It doesn’t matter if I’ve never spoken to someone. I’d rather get to know them by feeling their energy than by what they present to the world.

  • If we have some convo beforehand to catch up, I’m good with cuddling quietly, overall. Although I may have a thought that pops out.

  • Cuddling does not require talking. Similarly, talking does not require cuddling.

  • I prefer silence coupled with awkward uninterrupted eye contact and loud gulps for air

  • @BellaAine I will admit the way you worded that and painted a picture of the calmness of your surroundings doing all the talking sounds delightful.
I think some trust and light sharing to get to know someone would need to happen before, if even for a short few minutes… but that sounds like a beautiful cuddle indeed!

  • @TheFunCartel we can always count on your input to take us to unexpected places! Not limited to the morgue 🤣

  • It depends on the person I’m cuddling with.

    Quiet cuddles are great.

  • It's different with each person. With some, silence can feel awkward; with others, it's pure bliss where words are not needed. But I have found beautiful segments of quietude with both close cuddle friends as well as people I've just met that hour at a coffee shop. It's all in how you mesh with each other.

Sometimes we're so excited we can't stop talking and there's never enough time. 🤭

Sometimes we squeeze each other in silence...and there is never enough time. 🫠

    Both are wonderful.

  • Definitely struggle to stay silent as a chatterbox especially a first time meeting, but I certainly have had my moments of calmness where I can fall into being really relaxed and words aren’t needed if the vibes are impeccable.

Once had a cuddle buddy request a 3 hour cuddle, no music, no lights, no sounds after an intital greeting hello, It was quite the challenge for me, but in the end I felt and knew I felt safe with this person, I was able to master some serious self reflection on why I always want to talk to break “uncomfortable silence” even when it doesn’t need to be uncomfortable.
That session many years ago actually got me into meditation and being able to relax in cuddles more than before rather than chit chatting the whole time, I have some deep gratitude for it 🥰

I’d argue it depends on what you are doing. Some very powerful ways of cuddling - like eye gazing - build deep connection but require silence to be the most effective. However, these tend to be short duration - one can’t eye gaze for more than a couple minutes without it becoming uncomfortable. OTOH, something like cuddling virtually requires talking in order to even work. In some positions, I prefer to be silent when receiving just to focus on the sensation - like when someone I’m cuddling with is stroking my hair.

  • @Brandi Thats a meaningful cuddle memory! Thanks for sharing .
That is so inspirational to hear about a session sparking personal growth and expanding perspectives

  • I personally just had a mostly silent pro cuddling session and it was awesome! Very relaxed and a connective experience.

  • I find that a lot of people are very chatty initially, maybe nervous?, and then when they relax it gets quiet :) so I look forward to it as a sign that I’m helping them to calm down
