...Psy vampires. I was watching a documentary on vampire cultures through the ages. They mentioned vampires absorbing a person's energy...and the way they described it sounded like it could be done during cuddling sessions....is this me reaching or is this a possibility? And no, I'm not a vampire of any kind.

    There is no such thing as a vampire, a zombie, a werewolf, or a mermaid. They are great subjects for books, TV shows and movies but they don't exist in real life. So I would have no fear that during a cuddling session, all of your energy is going to be sucked out of you by a cuddling vacuum cleaner. Oh and by the way, the Heavens and Earth were were not created in 7 days by an all-powerful being. Bigfoot/Yetis - I still have an open (although sceptical) mind on those.

    I do think that, in a funny way, we give our energy to others through social interaction. That's why so many of us feel the need to recharge with alone time after being around people too long. It's a give-and-take of energy and ideas.

    Its a widely accepted truth within the psy vamp community that energy transfer is aided by proximity and by physical contact 'often pulling it to them from across room or draining it with casual touch' (The Psychic Vampire Codex, pg 10). It is considered by some to be a nessisary first step in connecting 'the astral bodies or auras of both vampire and victim... provide a path through which energy can flow' (Vampires: The Occult Truth pg 124).

    So yeah, cuddling could be something a psy vamp could do in order to feed from a donor. It's probably nicer if both parties exchange energies equally, rather than one person taking from the other. It could certainly be said to be happening unconsciously through an osmosis-like process.

    CosmicCreepers...Thanks for your insight. That Psychic Vampire Codex was mentioned in the documentary. But it also states that it has to be consensual for the donor and not forced upon.

    Cuddling actually has the opposite effect. Energy is created within not drawn away from you. When you have human contact for an extended period (more than a quick hug), oxytocin is created in your body. I call it the natural feel good chemical. This chemical energizes your body and provides benefits such as lowering blood pressure, reducing anxiety and stress, aiding with lowering depression, helping you sleep better, and so many more benefits. So cuddling would have the complete opposite affect of someone zapping your life source from your body. Your body would create it for you and their body would create it for them. I cuddle, I won’t bite so you’re safe.

    @Theshystud - sometimes what you believe influences how things affect you. Some tribes in Africa believe that if a witch doctor points a sacred bone at them, they will fall ill and die. And because of that belief, many have become ill and died. And it's well documented that in medical trials when people are given a sugar pill but are told it's a medicine that will help them, many subjects report feeling better. So if you believe in cuddling a psy vamp (whatever that is) will cause you to lose energy, it might well happen. But I still maintain there is no such thing as a vampire. Centuries ago, there were cases where people who were thought dead (but weren't) were buried and subsequently came back to life. They weren't vampires, it was simply a misdiagnosis, but the myth was born.

    Vampires are totally real. There is a documentary about them called What We Do in the Shadows. You think they could fake something like that?

    @UKGuy, I do understand what you are saying...and that is true. But it is still possible. You are right about the misdiagnosis back then...but there are people out there who will go to the extent of either being a blood vampire (not very safe in today's day and age with all these diseases out there) or a psy vampire where they go for ones life energy.

    @JasonCuddles they could fake it, but the thing is there are people who are really out there that believe they are (mental cases or not) vampires. just like there are werewolves, and other monsters of the night.
