Pro Cuddler Canceled After Receiving Uber Fees

Last weekend I met a pro cuddler in public. We used the site to schedule the meetup and I paid 40 dollars for her Uber via Venmo and another 70 dollars or so for her time. She wanted to meet me first to get acquainted before scheduling a cuddling session. After that we were texting and setup a day and time to meet at my place for a two hour session. The day before the session she text me confirming that the session was still on and requested another 40 dollars for an Uber to and from my house. I sent her the money through Venmo. The following day, two hours before the session was to start, she canceled. She said she would refund the 40 dollars but has yet to do so. She hasn't responded to my requests for a refund. Did I get ripped off? Should I report her?

    First of all, she shouldn’t have charged you for that initial meetup if you didn’t cuddle so that’s the first violation. Secondly, if she cancelled, yes she shouldn’t refund your $40 and per the site policy, should offer you a discount on your next session. Looks like you’re newish to the site, so some advice, wouldn’t offer any money up front unless the pro is very reputable

    I’m sorry this happened to you. I paid for a hotel on Tuesday night to meet with another enthusiast, drove there at night in rain, waited two hours and got stood up last minute. I was so hurt - I’m going through a lot right now in life so this felt life another slap in the face from the universe - that I forgot my pearl and gold earrings on the nightstand. The hotel has been giving me the runaround, so I guess I’m out that money too. Thank you for letting me vent on your post. I do hope it shows you though that this stuff happens to others as well. It’s the risk we take, I guess. Best wishes finding a better cuddle experience.

    @BlueIris Thank you for the advice. I tried to report her with a description and some pictures of our texts but I don't think it was accepted. I used the triple dot on her profile and when I hit send I got some notice about too many pictures.

    Not the case at all, depends on the agreement. The fee is for the professionals time, some charge for the initial meet, others don’t.

    For the appointment she cancelled, she absolutely should refund the uber fee and and deposit if it was paid, and if the cancellation was within 12 hours before the session, offer a discount towards a future session.

    Based on this comment, cuddling should have occured. I have pro friends who have recently had “hangouts” removed from their profile based on cuddling not being the primary focus. In this instance, they met, did not cuddle, so she should have not charged.

    I have been told my a representative of a a CC, that virtual sessions are allowed because they are seen as therapeutic.

    This is why deposits are a hard pass for me. But if I absolutely had to, paypal goods and services because it can be disputed and scammers know this.

    @TiredAndBored I don't do deposits either. Nor do I pay for initial meets or initial phone or video calls. No paying for Uber and No Venmo or PayPal or any of it. Only cash when we meet and are readying to cuddle

    Very wise.

    The majority of Pro pages I've seen vet through free 5 to 20-minute video calls. Since it's part of their safety procedure, it wouldn't make sense to charge the clients for that. It's a free consult without any services rendered.

    Meeting up in person "to get aquainted" for $70 and not transitioning into a cuddle, after, sounds as if perhaps it was a lesser-experienced Pro, or a calculated scam. (If she had a safety concern, she wouldn't have scheduled a forthcoming session.) Hope she refunds you, @nothingdoing1!

    Pro charges I don't agree with: host fees, transportation fees (the current trend is unreasonable $50-$100 if more than 20 minute drive), uber fees.
    If the cuddler doesn't get discounts for doing any one of the same thing, then the pro shouldn't be asking for fees for doing the same

    I came across a new pro recently that is asking for half the cuddling session fee to be paid up front before you even meet to cuddle with remaining balance to be paid upon arrival.....and tips and gifts are appreciated. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    We as men and clients of pros need to not give in to requests that we think are unreasonable. The reason that pros continue to make these requests is because clients entertain them.

    I don’t have many add on fees or really any listed on my profile and don’t charge a deposit as a matter of course. But when planning a session with 1) a new member, 2) someone who is a good distance away from me (>25 minutes or so), 3) someone where there is an outlay of cash on my part (Ubers, hotels, tickets), we generally work together to make these things as fair and risk-free to both parties. As a pro I too have been burned taking an Uber to a location and being ghosted, booking a hotel and ghosted, etc. I can only speak for myself but I want to ensure a good all around experience for both parties and build trust and good juju. If someone has to outlay money for Ubers and a hotel I try to compensate with additional time to balance things a bit. The adamant No Deposit Policy just doesn’t work in all situations. Hopefully through good communication and ethics all things can be worked through!

    As far as this specific situation a report is definitely in order and factual karma. I’ve talked with way too many clients who have had negative experiences and not reported or left karma because they “don’t want to be mean” and that person is free to repeat the bad behavior again and again.

    @Goonie4life I haven't seen such high gas/driving fees myself. Mine are far lower than that, and I think they're quite reasonable given how far I need to drive at times. I haven't had a client yet who disagreed. 🤷

    As for the OP, I'm really sorry this happened. It definitely gives scammy vibes and I hope you get your money back. I prefer to meet briefly in public just before a session for my own comfort level, but I never charge for that....and we cuddle right after.

    I think this probably falls under, "You should do your due diligence."

    Just like you dont give a random person over the phone money, its important to research professional cudders, read their reviews and really vet them. Just as they vet their clients.

    As a pro I always tell new cuddlers a few things to be aware of:
    -if the pro doesn’t suggest a video or call beforehand that’s a red flag
    -any extras (uber rides, down payment etc) tend to be from “pros” looking to make a quick buck and don’t really care about the actual service of helping people. Tend to be new. Few reviews and money motivated

    Question. There seems to be much discussion about red flags and charging large amounts of money, such as half of the fee upfront. Do the mods monitor the pro cuddlers posts for anything or are the mods strictly for monitoring the forums like here? Asking just for general knowledge
