Emotional Intelligence at work

Do you wonder why people are better outside of work but have contrasting personality at work?

I am participating in this course 'Emotional Intelligence at Work places'. So happy to see my company is promoting programs like this. It is so intriguing and mind blowing.

Theoretically most organizations structured in a way to shut of the emotional/human part at work places. I hope things change and we become more human especially with AI future.

    I am lucky to work in an environment that honors authenticity and emotional transparency. It’s kind of wild. I understand there are some emotional and intellectual boundaries that must exist in the workplace in order for it to be functional and avoid power dynamics/bleeding into too much of the personal and internal world. Some people just want to clock in and clock out, and you gotta respect that. But there is definitely something to say about the human experience/expression being muted for the sake of productivity and sterile, lifeless environments. I’ve struggled with that a lot.

    I have the younger generation to thank. I came from a time that men need to be stoic and dutiful and polite without complaints.

    I work with a lot if Gen Z at my autonomous car company and let me tell you, Gen Z aren't afraid to speak up. To the point our supervisors need to accomodate their needs. I actually love it. In order to keep up, I also have to voice my needs.

    Can't stew quietly anymore. And I feel so much better not wearing the mask anymore.

    This is the first time I felt my workplace feel like home.

    @TheMidnightOwl That's a good question. I'd like to know what "better" and its contrast mean as well.
