Go outside, walk within nature
The combination of weed, great music, and exercise is ๐ค
I focus on a process, going through it in my mind step by step. It could be anything I want to create or cooking or a complex chore. I use visualization. I fall asleep part way through.
The lowest G1 note on the cello I could find on a loop
@MissAdventurous those puzzles look fantastic! I might have to break mine out this weekend! Thank you for reminding me that puzzles exist!๐๐๐
I think that this is something that I can't do.
Walking, Hiking, and occasional THC
Paradoxically - coffee (I have a tolerance for Cuban coffee, Iโd even get it as a toddler) ..a good run, jazzy loungey beats and self-hypno / meditation especially by the beach
My ADHD makes traditional meditation a non-starter. Instead, I've always found movement and anything that gets me into flow state to work best. I started dancing at 3 and continued up until recent health issues sidelined me. Dance always offered the perfect balance of structure and physicality to help me get out of my head and into my body. Yoga and somatic exercises also work. Walking meditations are great when I have the right audio prompts to listen to. Over the years I've gotten better at learning to focus on physical sensations as a way to pull my thoughts into focus and away from whatever spiral I'm going in.
At bedtime, I've found listening to some sleep meditations specifically made for ADHD brains helps. I also have a collection of history and science education channels on YouTube that have longer videos I can listen to. I need a very specific balance of calming tone, interesting but not too interesting - too boring and my mind will drift back to the constant chatter in my brain. I absolutely love reading, but I'll end up reading all night instead of it winding me down ๐
And honestly? My ADHD meds (when I remember to take them). It's a whooooole lot easier to relax when the constant brain radio static is turned down a notch or ten.
Music or Audiobooks. I can get lost in a good book.
Thunder & rain sounds, or ocean waves hitting the shore. Things like that put me right to sleep.
@Jubal I have to do that every night. Play something to fill the dead silence. I miss as a teen, sleeping in until noon.
Now, dead silence keeps us up. This adulting is wild ๐๐๐
