Life was so easier and beautiful as a child. Wanting to become an adult ahead of time.
I feel for any child who was forced to become an adult too soon. Talk about thief of joy. You never get that time back.
@Huggycatbear while I don't wish trauma on any child, it is precisely because of mine and being forced to grow up too soon that my inner world and imagination became so strong. It gets difficult to distinguish coping mechanism from personality when it starts young. And it made me want to protect and work with kids even when I still was one myself.
@cuddlefaery I love that you shared that. It goes to show, no one shoe fits all. It made you into the fae you are today. Let's keep bringing nuance to the internet together 🤗
They say there's two kinds of people. Those who say "I suffered and no one else should have to go through what I went through" and those who say "I suffered so you should too".
@IronicMaiden There is a third kind who says "If you have the same problem, let me support you so you can go through it easier than I had before".
@Adam_Prof I see that as the first kind.
@IronicMaiden I think the first one helps you by preventing what happened with them, but supporters are people who care about you and will stay beside you whatever happens which include your family members and best friends.
I tried to eat dried poop not on the ground and tried to say it was bubble gum emphasis on tried my brother's knocked it out of my hand to this day I have no clue why the hell I would try to eat poop on the ground
@FutureHeart2023 Glad your brother looked out for you. It could have been a vitamin deficiency. Some kids eat the dirt from their clay houses because they are low in Iron. Just my guess.

Some things are better left unsaid
Pokemon Cards- why am I still buying to play and collect makes no sense at all
@IronicMaiden I didn't say I regret it 😂 The thread is about things we don't understand as an adult, not a positive or negative imo. But yes, a separate thread about childhood quirks carried on into adulthood could be fun!
I use to go to scary haunted places to look for ghosts and other otherworldly fellas ... I still do that lol
Run away from home with a suitcase full of clothes and no other plan for survival
Not so much do as believed. I believed only one person could have a birthday, so that once a new person was born on that day, it was no longer your birthday and you didn't have one anymore. So when I went to Chuck E. Cheese for my 4th or 5th birthday and the waiters brought pizza and cake to the baby at the table next to mine, I was mortified that I had lost my birthday so quickly. Balled my eyes out. "I thought it was my birthday. 😭"
I would grab the most recent newspaper (it's like a news website, but in paper) and make cassette (it's like a voice note, but on tape) recordings of me as a radio (it's like Spotify, but through the air) newsman. I did impersonations of whoever I was "interviewing" lol. Actually that kinda still makes sense, just on outdated analog tech.
