@JohnR1972 As always you’ve provided some really interesting information that I wasn’t aware of. I always assume that all the precautions I might take to keep my life private are pretty useless. It’s a false sense of security that a lot of people have because the tactics of some companies is way beyond our control. I have nothing to hide, nothing to be gained by scammers, I lead a very simple life. I sleep well at night because no one really has anything to gain from me. No one would want my identity, believe me. And since I’m retired, no employer to worry about. There are advantages to being old and poor.
I have a question.. I have seen friends on here who I'd like to hide from. If I go to their profile to block them, can they see i've visited their profile after the block in their view list?

As somebody who has had a fair share of dudes block me , no, once you block someone you disappear from their visitors list. It does not prevent them from seeing you in the forums and Also if you are on their friends list, they strangely enough still appear on the list .
