Karma

Someone left me karma recently and it was removed because the mod said we didn’t cuddle. I don’t see a rule anywhere on the site stating anything other than you can leave karma once you’ve met someone which this person and I did meet. The note from the mod said the karma should be about the cuddling experience but I’ve seen multiple karmas on peoples profile where they didn’t cuddle. My question is, what is the actual rule and why was mine removed but others who also did not cuddle, have not been removed? I would have messaged the mod but this mod has me blocked so I am unable to ask the mod privately. Also, how did the mod know about the karma? Do mods see all karma for review or was it reported?

  • Was it perhaps there was no booking? That's the only thing I can think of in what they can reference without direct communication from either of you.

Did the karma mention that you didn't cuddle?

A mod who has you blocked has no business handling your account.

    It was an enthusiast

From my experience, @CharlieBear is a Mod who is impartial.

Karma is for those who have met and cuddled. This has been the general rule for years and years. Myself and other mods have removed karma amongst "friends" who've never met and cuddled.

So let me understand this thread: a moderator told you the reason they removed karma and you post your meltdown and invite further scrutiny instead of messaging Mark or Gary? You take further issue that a mod has blocked you and you want to make that public too? Anyone can block anyone for any reason. The mod doesn't need to tell you why, which has also been discussed ad nauseum.

    Did I miss anything?

  • He has the right to let his issue be known publicly. Just like anyone who feels they are being policed without just cause. None of his message reads as a meltdown.

Did you miss anything? Yes, you didn't address his questions when asked if someone reported the karma, and why others who have also not cuddled didn't get theirs removed.

If a general rule is no cuddling = no karma, then why isn't it being enforced equally.

  • @Sideon I'm actually surprised that mods are permitted to block anyone. But given that seems to be the case, then I second what @SunsetSnuggles said about it.

  • Blocking isn't the issue. The issue is someone reported karma for a cuddle that didn't happen. Then someone posts publicly about it., because they think they're above the rules.

Blocking is not the issue here.

@Sideon I do not see a meltdown on his side. I see questions that could be approached with a whole lot more politeness then what you have to offer.

Are you the mod in question?

This comes off like a vendetta.

  • I'm a former mod.

Someone like the OP knows the rules on CC. Creating a thread for someone else's deleted karma that broke the karma rules isn't chivalry. It's self interest, because he then finds out a mod has blocked him. And then he whines about it publicly, conflating issues he himself created.

But vendetta? The OP is still here, isn't he?

  • I'm confused. If you're a former mod how do you know the karma was reported or is that an assumption? And you said it was someone else's karma. OP said it was left for him.

  • I am not commenting on the case in question, about which I know nothing.

Moderators are ordinary members. (For example I hired a professional the other day.) When acting as members they can Block the same as everybody else. When acting as Moderators, they are still permitted to Block because it's a useful tool: the Mod can deal with a situation as a person, rather than having to decide whether to escalate things to moderating level.

In general a Mod would not take on a Report involving somebody they had Blocked. In the tiny number of cases I have seen in my short career as a Mod, the Mod Blocked the member after the moderating action had been taken.

It is likely that the Karma in this case was Reported by somebody. Karma is not routinely monitored by the Mods.

Karma is intended for when people meet in person and cuddle. An exception is allowed for virtual sessions. There are a number of other possible exceptions (all uncommon) but the reality is that they depend on circumstances. In the case of client/professional, the absence of a Booking on the system increases the likelihood of the Karma being removed. Screening calls/meetings, meet-and-greet events, knowing somebody from elsewhere and other non-cuddling encounters are generally not Karma-able.

If you see something on the site that breaks the rules, it's almost certainly because it hasn't been Reported.

The site's legal documents (terms of service, contracts, etc) are written to be easy to understand. They are as short as they can be and use mostly natural language. They prescribe general principles, not exhaustive details. Moderators are more concerned with the spirit of the law than the letter. All moderating decisions involve humans, frequently two of them, and every moderating decision involves a different set of facts: it is never easy or simple to compare two decisions. Recently I encountered two remarkably similar cases in close succession: one person received a basic Warning while the other was Banned, because their site histories were very different.

Most moderating decisions are either really straightforward (e.g. dick pic for the profile photo) or real head-scratchers. Questions relating to Karma are very often the latter.

If you are having a problem with a Mod, and you want to take it further, the best thing to do is wait 24 hours to let your head clear and your emotions die down a little. (This increases the chances of getting the result you want.) If you still do, contact another Mod. (There is no hierarchy.) There is a list in the first post of the Site Rules and Your Moderators sticky: check they have logged in recently. If it's a really big deal, going beyond normal moderating matters, you can contact Mark or Gary. If a moderator has blocked you, please consider very seriously the possibility that you are being an arse.

  • I also concur with @SunsetSnuggles .

I don't detect any whining by @Morpheus . He's asked a legitimate question to which, it seems, a link to referenced rule could be easily provided.

"After two members have both sent each other three messages, the ability to leave karma for the other person is unlocked."

Morpheus, did you exchange at least three messages?

  • Duncan makes a great point and gave some great advice for a follow up. Sometimes things aren't as cut and dry as the terms and conditions.

I would only suggest that a public meetup supersedes a virtual cuddle, and if virtuals are allowed to have a karma left for them, then a public meetup should as well. Plenty of pros offer companionship for events or public hangouts.

There are so many instances of people giving each other karma here when they’ve never actually cuddled, I know this because I’ve asked a couple of Enthusiasts that I know and they've told me that people going to Meet & Greets all trade karma after meeting, though not actually cuddling. Also I know of people who’ve only met for coffee and then rated that meeting. Until then I also believed you had to have actually cuddled to trade karma.
So there’s inconsistency just like in other areas and it would be too difficult to monitor a hard fast rule anyway.

  • @TxTom

Morpheus, did you exchange at least three messages?

    Yes

  • Well, then, according to the link above, it sounds like your karma was incorrectly removed and should be restored.

  • There are some rules on this site that are not crystal clear and this can lead to confusion not just on my part who is a long time member but with others as well. Thank you to those that are “seeing” me and understanding my question. I greatly appreciate you.

  • @Morpheus sorry you had to deal with that, and then face another rude response on your thread. I have been in the same boat! I also think your question is valid.

@CuddleDuncan, what is the difference between contacting Mark or Gary ? Do they have more say?

Also how can a mod block a person if you’re not allowed to block them? I’ve had a similar situation where I couldn’t question something I had been “moderated” about but the mods account was on mute which made reaching out impossible.

  • All mods are enthusiasts or pros before they become a mod, except for Gary and Mark, whom operate the site. The OP's gripe about a block may have existed years prior to them becoming a mod.

As a mod, I never did block anyone, but I sure did issue warnings, and one of them, when I'd had enough of their bullshit, was to tell them "do not message me again. Tell your troubles to Mark or Gary, but message me and you'll be timed out." And then I would follow through with it. Full disclosure: I gave Morpheus a similar warning. The only credit he gets is the modicum of wisdom to not message me.

Maybe time to close the thread. He got his questions answered, and if he has suggestions for improvement he can post them in the other thread of wants and wishes. @CuddleDuncan

  • @Imaani

Thank you for your kindness and support and you are correct, I am unable to block the mod in question even though they have me blocked, because they are a mod.

My finger has been hovering over the Close button since I first laid eyes on this thread ....

It is instructive to note how many perfectly good questions and points have come out of this apparently simple question. Remember that the Moderator had to consider all of them before making any decision. And a whole bunch more, and the histories of the protagonists. And of course they had actually read the Karma in question. And there's a bottomless well of incoming new Reports to consider, many of them much more serious.

    @cuddlypanda3

Plenty of pros offer companionship for events or public hangouts.

Please Report them. Companionship or hanging out by text, phone or in person is not allowed in professional profiles. (Virtual cuddling sessions by videocall have been permitted since lockdown and remain under continual review.) It's usually not a serious offence, we just delete the offending text and issue a standard warning. It is allowed for professionals to offer such services on other platforms, but this is a cuddling site and we are not going to allow that focus to be obfuscated.

Members cannot Block Mods' accounts because if you could, wrongdoers would start by simply Blocking all the Mods.

The OP's questions have been answered. Locked.
