DMV Dancing

edited May 20 in General

Hi Folks,

It was great to meet some awesome people over the weekend. This upcoming Memorial Day Weekend there will be the annual Red, Hot, and Blues event at Glen Echo Park in Maryland (near Tysons Corner and Bethesda). It's a whole of dancing all day for 3.5 days and bbq as well.

I'll probably attend some Latin dancing events too during the summer and will post. Feel free to message if you're interested in going.

  • Aww that looks awesome! I've been wanting to add fusion and micro to my repertoire. I hope you have a blast!

  • @cuddlefaery Thank you. I've only started blues quite recently, but I've done more Latin in the past. My favorite being bachata, then kizomba, and zouk. Social dancing is a great way to learn boundaries and positive touch. 😊 And good exercise!

  • Zouk has also been on my list, but there aren't any groups close enough. I know there's some classes over in the Bay Area, but it's just far enough to be prohibitive.

I've been dancing since I was 3 and started picking up social dances in high school. Did the usual survey of ballroom & latin basics - rhumba and tango were my favorite of those. I can't keep up with the cardio of salsa and bachata anymore 😔 but the similarities between contact improv and zouk are what first got me hooked on watching it!

  • @cuddlefaery Zouk reminds me of tango and salsa combined plus some modern dance. :) Very fun. Keep checking, as new classes pop up all the time. Gl.
