Well I'll just brainstorm other ideas and maybe it'll come back to me or maybe one of them was it and it wasn't anything fancy 😂.
Karaoke sounds great to me though! I love doing it and don't get to do it enough. When I do go to karaoke I usually go to one of the local Korean places that rents out a room to a group of people so you're not having to sing in front of an entire bar or out in public or having to wait a long time for your song. However I can see the other ones being easier cost wise, as the private rooms are paid by the hour. Or a DIY karaoke maybe could be an idea?
If people are interested in another park meet up there's some forest preserves on the northwest side of Chicago. It's similar to what y'all did where you can rent a spot with a shelter in it 🌲
Also I know some open-minded restaurants/bars on the Northside of Chicago that would definitely be open to hosting a niche group like ours! I'd just have to reach out and plan. 💕 It would be more of a casual get together at a bar sort of thing that way.
But karaoke is always a fun time too! Gotta do some vocal warm ups to get ready for it 😂
There are some other options I have in mind but they might become pricey (like bowling or whirlyball or laser tag) and I want everyone to be able to join 😊
I’m friends with the managers and dj’s at a few American style karaoke bars, so I might be able to get a private room for a discount. I’m not sure about another park event so soon because of the setup costs and logistical issues. Restaurants might also be difficult, since the headcount and arrival times will be unreliable.
My friends do private karaoke parties, so I can ask around about that option if people are interested. That would be in a private residence though, so we’d have to limit total attendees.
@tranquilheart maybe take a poll for the karaoke? Lip syncing and "Duos/Backup dancers Allowed" may get a lot of yes responses lol
I vote YES to Karaoke
Sidenote: I am a Pastry Chef, I work as a Caterer. I plan small themed events & private parties. (I also do the decorating!)
Awesome! I’ll start a new thread!
Some other ideas that came to mind:
• Restaurant or dinner outings • Board game nights • Movie nights (if we can find a suitable space) • Arcade outings • Bowling • Mini golf • Zoo or museum trips • Bonfires or picnics • Ice cream or dessert meetups
One idea I thought might be especially fun is a Rock Band event. I own Rock Band for PS4 along with instruments, and if we had access to a TV and suitable space, we could do a Rock Band party. Another possibility would be renting a room at a gaming lounge that already has Rock Band set up (Such as Ignite Gaming Lounge). It would be kind of like karaoke, but more interactive since people can sing, play guitar, bass, or drums together.
I'm curious what kinds of events people would be interested in attending. Feel free to vote for the ideas above or suggest your own. I'd love to hear what sounds fun to everyone!
@CSnMUS87 this is a great list!!
I’m drafting a post with a poll, but it’ll take me a little while to get it up (I’m still at work). We might be able to do a smaller meetup with private karaoke or Rock Band, but it will probably be in someone’s home so we’d need to DM the location to people who have RSVP’d and do some vetting. I’m ok with that—I have a list of the attendees from last weekend and the people who wanted to come and couldn’t make it—but will people be opposed to that overall?
Edit: I started the new thread quicker than I thought
Edit 2: removed it because I got a bunch of weird messages. I’ll repost it once I get the issue sorted.
Just reposted the poll
@tranquilheart Just wanted to say if it does whine up being at someone's home you may have to limit how many people show depending on the size of the place.
Omg so sad I missed this! Hope there’s another one soon
