Remember that game, Cooties? Well this is Earworm Empath. Great music has one thing in common. It speaks to the soul on an individual level. And knowing what song strikes a chord with someone, can help you to understand the deepest places in their heart.
The rules to this game are simple:
Share a few lyrics (not the whole song) and do not give the title. Let us figure it out. Or you may want to build on an existing Earworm by adding a thoughtful comment or caring word to someone else's. Give the title if you know it and let's see how long each worm gets.
Share what that song or lyrics mean to you. It may remind you of a special memory when you felt like you were on top of a mountain, or it may remind you of a current struggle or time you felt in the valley, a hardship or even a time someone reached down and picked you up. How did you overcome? What advice would you give others going through the same valley?
Listen to what other cuddlers are saying before responding. Remember there are no wrong answers to what a song means to someone. And let's respond with empathy. There is no room for judgment on anyone's Earworm.
And because it's the fourth of July, I'll start.
She said it's cold
It feels like independence day
And I can't break away from this parade
But there's got be an opening
Somewhere here in front of me
Through this maze of ugliness and greed
This song speaks to me about a dream that I've had since I was twelve and all the things in my life that seem to have tried to kill that dream. Much of these things I've allowed myself, which begs the question that resonates with the song, why does she like hanging around in cemeteries?
