I stopped eating fast food chicken when the guy at a local Popeyes was leaning over the flour bin covering the chicken pieces, sweat pouring off his forehead like a leaky faucet into the flour.
Granted, it was 1000°F in Austin in the middle of July and the restaurant didn't have a working A/C, but still...

I am absolutely disgusted by most fried chicken these days. Standards have dropped so low. Popeyes used to be very good until they got bought out and rapidly expanded.
Korean chains are my #1 right now. BB.q chicken is always excellent and has a nice variety of flavors. Side items are kinda meh though, wish they had a few traditional American sides.
Also banchans which is just fried wings is consistently a+.
One that is unexpectedly good, though only in a few locations is gas station brand Krispy krunchy chicken. Most places it's trash but there's a truck stop in marsing idaho where it's consistently great.
Biggest problems with fried chicken quality are infrequent oil changes, too long under heat lamp and improper meat to breading ratio.
Canes overall is good but way way too bland. If they came out with a spicy version they could be very solid.
@TheFunCartel Their chicken has always been too dry for me. I have an ex whose cousin LOVES that place, but I always just ate the side options!
