A quick lookup post for basic facts about regular posters.

So that you don't have to visit their profiles over and over when you inevitably forget who they are, how old they are, where they're from, etc. I'll start!

Name: Darren Walker
Age: 29 [born 1989]
Location: Grand Junction, Colorado
Looking to cuddle: anyone I get along with
Languages: English, Japanese
Gender: none
Sex: female (currently, I may have that changed later)

Extra info:
I really like books! Also fire, dark chocolate, and knives. I live in a basement and don't like to come above ground while the sun is up. (Actually I hate it. It hurts.) I work nights. I usually smell like lavender. I am not Orihara Izaya.

    body required

  • Wow. Nice thought, but you guys are giving identity thieves everything they need to accomplish their work—real name, dob, etc. They do not need everything, just a little info and they take it from there.

  • If I remember, I think I'll start putting a footer beneath my posts with my location...

@FunCartel: 本名じゃないけど。Also, just the year of birth isn't enough to give anyone anything but my age, which is on my profile anyway. I never asked anyone to give their full legal name or entire date of birth (or, come to that, to forget that they speak English, and only list weird things as languages that they can be talked to in). If someone wants to be foolish about their information, and give more than only the most basic basics, that's on them.

This is just meant to be a cheat sheet for people who don't want to visit profiles all the time. Whatever name you use, how old you are, where you live in the world, what languages you speak....

  • In my opinion, it's silly for the the owners (or other people) to have stated that visitng profiles is possibly 'creepy', so now people are thinking up all kinds of other ways of duplicating the same information elsewhere.

  • No matter what anyone puts in the forums someone has to have rhyme or reason not to do it. I am a professional, I’ve been in the professional world for 31 years. I am on LinkedIn, I am on Facebook, I am on the site of one of the largest medical facilities in the United States and a college in Pa besides that Trina is not a very common name. if someone didn’t already have all this information before I posted this than they aren’t a very good identity thief.

  • I have a friend who works in the cyber security field and is a consultant. A good hacker or thief only needs a couple of pieces of info he told me. But if they have the name and can match it with either a SSN or DOB it is like giving someone the keys to your front door. And the argument that I am all over the place on the web and no one has done it yet is a flawed argument. Kind of like saying I have unprotected sex with multiple people and have yet to catch anything. It only takes one time and the results can be devastating. But people can do as they wish.

The funny thing is my said friend is off the virtual grid because he said it is the safest way to protect your identity. He uses a computer but he shuns social media and electronic banking because these are the number one targets. What he does put out in the virtual world does not contain his name-first or last-and does not give any personal info of any kind. I have tried to follow suit but I am on some sites. But I try to emulate what he does because banks and governments hire him so I figure he knows of what he speaks.

  • Anyone dead or alive is on the virtual grid no matter who you are and what you put whether it’s just your age and middle name. If they want you they will have you no matter who you are.

To be fair, yeah, some people do have bad memory and can't remember what face to attach to the username etc, especially since our photos don't show up with posts on mobile. I just like reading what others write for profiles and I usually only check once; I don't think that's creepy.

What is entirely weird, is when someone is looking at my profile daily without saying anything, especially if they are new and I sent them a welcome message to which they did not reply. I am on another site where the block button doesn't actually stop anybody from doing anything except messaging you. Somebody on there who has been blocked and blacklisted for sending me photos of their genitalia in text keeps viewing my profile several times a day, every few hours. When I had my website listed on there, they started creating new numbers and kik accounts to text me from. They get blocked but keep doing it as if they don't understand I will not speak with them. I don't know if this is their passive aggressive way to say "you can't hide from me", or what, but that is creepy on another level. I've complained to that site several times, and they refuse to do anything about it or make their block feature actually work so that it doesn't display people you've blocked, or people who have blocked you. Their excuse is, "the profiles are public anyway". So are the profiles here, if you have a URL...they just aren't listed in search indexes.

It's just viewing a profile, but you never know what they are trying to glean from it, or what kind of info they can pick up. My mum is getting weird phone calls since the drama with this idiot started up. I don't want to deal with that kind of bullscheiße. I'm waiting for the day something happens to someone and that site gets sued for not protecting its users better.

Well, it also serves another purpose: if you post a brief bio here, it's obvious that you're a regular poster. Visits to my profile have gone way up since I posted that little teaser (which I think is hilarious).

  • Thanks for visiting Facebook!

  • I tend to contact some, not even most, but a lot of the folks who look at my profile and don’t leave a message. Most don’t respond, but the majority of those who do tell me they were scrolling on a phone or tablet and accidentally hit my name. I don’t mind.

  • I also heard about something today that might be misconstrued as "profile stalking". Somebody in a neighbouring town who I have never spoken to has been viewing me daily; sometimes a few hours apart since I made this account in January. Naturally it felt weird, so I just sent them a polite little "Hey, I see you're clicking my profile lots, what's up?" message. He responded that everytime he logs in, it goes to my page. So probably what's happening is he types the address in on his phone, and then the browser pulls up a list of recently viewed pages and he clicks on the first CC one that pops up in order to get to the site. I've actually had that happen when I type in the address for other social sites, not sure why I didn't think of it.

  • @CreativeCuddles As I said, flawed thinking. I ran this by my buddy and he said this “lemming” thinking is what sustains his business and lifestyle.

I suppose no one should listen to a doctor because you are going to die anyway.

  • I can offer one perspective on someone who might visit a profile more than once. I do because I plan my trips in advance and if I am coming into town my time is limited and structured so I have to make my cuddle time count. I do this by narrowing down choices in a town, and once I have it narrowed down to a few and have heard back from them I will visit their profiles several times I will make a choice. I do this to make a terribly subjective choice slightly more informed as I soak in the details from their profiles to find which cuddler I will mesh with best. I can do this because I have the luxury of time, but I have found this method has improved my accuracy of good experiences. The third person I ever cuddled was in my area, a pro, and I just made an appointment without much thought. Looking back on that person who shall remain nameless it is now obvious to me we were not a good match in this endeavor. That is my reason for looking at a profile more than once.

@FunCartel the trip planning is why I have been visiting profiles more frequently in a specific area too. I am planning a trip to see one of my cuddles and figure I would try cuddling a few in that area as well as meeting another cuddle half way either the night before or after. There is more details involved in planning a cuddling trip I think than any other. We all have thoughts on why we feel someone visits our profile on more than one ocassion. I read profiles as well if I have read a certain type of response in the forum, I feel compelled to see if their profile has a little back story.

Thank you for your words of wisdom, I know you were only looking out for the best interest of your fellow cuddlers and I truly appreciate it.
