Cuddle related confessions

edited July 21 in General

Confess something private, embarrassing, silly or just anything about yourself related to cuddling that you wouldn’t normally share. I’ll start:

Even though I already take pretty good care of myself, including my feet, I sometimes get pedicures just to make sure everything down there is super cuddle friendly.

There I said it!

Ok. Remember taxicab confessions? Is this like that show? We all saw it in HBO in the 90s I had a pedicure once. It was no big deal.

    .

  • I get a pedicure when I need an ego boost. They always make such a big deal about my soft feet. Male pedicures aren't as uncommon as you might think.

  • I have a "tickle mode" that can get activated pretty easily because I'm super sensitive in general and have touch trauma (causes hyper awareness and vigilance). Despite it sounding fun to some, it absolutely is NOT. It makes it so that I don't even actually have to be touched to be laughing/crying and flinching. It's overstimulation to the extreme and can trigger my PTSD. It doesn't feel good despite the laughing - it's painful. (Fun fact - tickling is the precursor to pain as far as our nervous system is concerned, which is why so many find it unpleasant, painful, or triggering.)

Thankfully it's pretty easy to knock down - firm, deep pressure touch calms it quickly although it can get retriggered if the ticklish touch happens again. Partners who are in-tune with body language and pay attention can usually avoid triggering it in the first place, or immediately quiet it before it really sets in. I've been lucky in that most of my cuddle partners over the past 8ish years have been on the more aware side and willing to work with me.

Unfortunately, that also means that partners who are less aware or less knowledgeable about overstimulation can accidently condition my nervous system to always be on edge, in fight or flight mode, around them 🤦🏻‍♀️😬 I once had a partner who thought I was enjoying it for about a week because in the moment I shut down and am unable to verbalize the problem well. It got so bad I jumped every time he got within arm's reach of me or if he moved even the slightest bit. He felt like my body was rejecting him.
After I was finally able to discuss the issue with him in depth in a safe manner, I explained the effects touch trauma and PTSD can have, so we decided to work on it. It took 3+ months of consistently avoiding ANY ticklish touches in order to retrain my nervous system that he was a safe person. It ended up being well worth it in the long run, and I hope he's been able to carry that knowledge forward with him to other cuddle partners!

Sharing this not just as a confession of sorts, but also in hope that some others might recognize the same problem and be able to find some healing 🤗 Platonic cuddling made THE biggest positive impact on my healing from touch trauma and turned me from almost entirely touch-avoidant to a cuddlebug who can't get enough.

  • I secretly love hearing people’s life stories. Everyone has one unexpected story that completely changes how you see them.

  • Everyone mentioned in the Epstein files get chills running down their spine when any word starting with the two syllables “pedi” are uttered. I was thrown out of the White House once for talking about my pedigree.

  • This didn't happen with someone I cuddled with from the site here but I was sitting with a female friend I knew for a few years and she was cuddled up to me we were talking and I farted while we were cuddling. I was embarrassed but thankfully she didn't hear it or smell it but there was music playing but I was so uncomfortable. That is the only time I ever had it happen and was so embarrassed
