Leaving a Bad Review/Karma

edited July 29 in Pro Cuddling

I've never left a bad review/karma and I don't have a reason to, but I'm curious how that usually goes for people.

Can't the pro just give you a 1 star and write a really mean review of you and ruin your reputation on cuddle comfort?

I ask because at some point I will probably need to write a bad review, but it seems like doing so could make them react and leave that bad karma and make it impossible for me to cuddle with anyone new. The pro's I've cuddled with already know me so they'd know it's not true, but new people would see it and be like nope.

I apologize if this had been asked before, but I couldn't find a discussion on it.

Awhile back I saw someone ask why people are giving five stars to people but giving them a bad review. I imagine this is why. I could be wrong though, hahaha.

  • If you're a decent guy who doesn't violate the TOS or violate the person you're with, then there is no reason to be concerned about getting a bad review. If you get a bad review and you feel it's retaliatory then report it.

That was my first thought - why give anyone a reason to leave a bad karma?
Why not be respectful, considerate, responsible, well-behaved? And follow the CC rules and be the best version of yourself, because then you have nothing to worry about.
(I bet that at some point in everyone’s life they've learned proper behavior.)

I am referring to them retaliating by leaving me bad Karma in the event that I have to leave them bad Karma.

And there's more to it than how the Pro acts. In the event that they're hosting is their place clean? Does it stink? Are there children running around? Do they have roommates/a partner that'd be home that wasn't mentioned? Bed bugs?

Exaclty . Usually negative karma that I've seen is from clients who are upset with the cuddle pro. They seem more likely to complain because it's a paid service for them. I don't see a ton of it the other way around, unless it's to refute it. I haven't done a statistical analysis of course, it's just what I've personally noticed.

Real talk: You are free to do whatever you want, but traditionally people don't leave karma/reviews like that. This is a community, this isn't yelp.

Most reviews/karma are centered around if the other person is safe to see. If they are they'll genuinely get 5 stars, if they're not they'll get 1 star (or reported, or both). There is very little in between. Is that good or bad? I don't know, just how it mostly is.

But just because, that's how 99.999% of people leave karma does not mean you are obligated to do that. You can leave Karma based on whatever you want (as long as it's based in facts). If want to leave karma based if how clean their space is, if they have valet parking or how high the thread count on the sheets is, you absolutely can do that.

And at the same time, the pro can leave karma for you and use whatever metric they deem fit. What you wear when you arrive, if you take off your shoes as soon as you enter, if you have clean socks, if you pay upfront, if you arrive too late, if you arrive too early, if your cuddle attire isn't soft enough, if you provide a tip.

Again is this a good thing or a bad thing? Up for debate, but regardless, it is what it is.

  • Just try to remember that these are people , not products

"What you wear when you arrive, if you take off your shoes as soon as you enter, if you have clean socks, if you pay upfront, if you arrive too late, if you arrive too early, if your cuddle attire isn't soft enough."

All of those are fair things to base karma on- depending on the circumstances. It will tell future cuddlers if they're respectful and considerate. Arriving too late, yeah I'll give them a bad review if it's a habit. 100%. Also if the person doesn't show up without a valid reason. Giving them a bad rating too. Ghosting is extremely rude and inconsiderate.

And a clean space is important. If there are needles, trash everywhere, mold- that all matters and is relevant. Keep in mind, I wouldn't give bad karma unless it was serious or a bad repeated pattern. .

Pro cuddlers are providing a service so there are certain expectations that come with that. Same thing as if you went to a massage spa or any other similar service. If pro cuddlers don't have the appropriate living situation then they shouldn't host.

And pro cuddlers are indeed people with feelings and I respect that. I'd be upfront with the pro cuddler about things first. Commutation is important. But the things I'd give bad Karma for are mostly not something a conversation could fix, and warning other cuddlers is the right thing to do. And if whatever the problem was got fixed then I'd totally change the Karma I gave them. Like if they had really bad mold and they got that fixed I'd change the rating from a 3 to 5. It's a health hazard. And I'd explain my reasoning. Although, if they stopped hosting and switched to guest/public only then I'd keep what I have written but just change it to five stars.

Odds are I'll never have to give bad Karma, but this is just something that bothered me and I was curious about figuring out how to navigate such a situation should the time come.

And of course, anything that violates TOS or CC rules will result in them being reported. And legal action if it's that serious.

  • at some point I will probably need to write a bad review

    Love the optimism.

  • I think it's important to differentiate between truly retaliatory bad karma, and just both having a negative experience and their karma reflecting that. Sometimes neither party is truly in the wrong - it's just incompatibility.

And the thing is, @Blue_ii , some of those things listed are not actually universal "being respectful and considerate". So giving negative karma could speak to your personal standards, but if it wasn't actually discussed it may not be the other person's standard.

I think the main issue with the karma system and why it's become all-or-nothing is because people treat it as personal reflections on their character and the character of others, rather than an accurate representation of an experience. People therefore assume that good karma = safe, which is never actually true, because someone could have 5 star experiences 99 times, and then abuse the 100th. I wish instead people did treat it more like yelp or Google reviews so that others could more accurately judge compatibility. Safety needs to be judged off of other vetting practices - not an incredibly subjective rating system.

  • It sounds like blue has made up his mind about what he wants to do, but is worried about retaliation for his bad karma/reviews.

If a review about you is unfavorable, you can report it (I guess that's for violations), or you can reply to it and state your point of view.

  • It sounds like some of you have some opinions and ideas, that is good. I appreciate the discussion so far. It has given me a lot to think about. I appreciate you all touching on the options available in the situation I mentioned.

Karma is such an interesting system especially since it has that highly personal aspect to it. The thing about the forum is its a place to discuss things and I think we're doing that pretty well. Good job you all 👍

@Dcuddler4U Thank you for the summary! I know this is a touchy subject, but I think it's something I needed to discuss and hear from all of you about. I hope I never need to leave bad Karma! And I don't think I will. I just wanted to be prepared should that day come. And I want to make sure I'm leaving the Karma in a way that both helps potential cuddle clients but is also still fair to the pro. This really cleared up my concerns and helped give me a better understanding of Karma.
