1099 or ???

The contract says the pro cuddler is responsible for all taxes and such. Does that mean the site is not reporting to the IRS and there is no reporting of income, and the pro is supposed to handle that entirely? The site is not issuing 1099 forms for independent contractors? Just wanting to make sure I’m reading it correctly. Thanks in advance!

  • Professionals are not contractors.

Professionals hire Cuddle Comfort. As a professional cuddler you are a business owner. CC is one of your suppliers.

  • The site isn't issuing payments to you, so no 1099 from CC. The people who pay you are supposed to issue a 1099 (if at all).

Reality is that your clients on here are not going to the trouble of collecting your SSN to issue a 1099. If you're reporting your cuddle income on schedule C, it's up to you to keep track of income and expenses.

You are an independent contractor / business owner.
You must pay any applicable income and payroll taxes yourself and keep up with you records.

If you go to the schedule tab > past you can download an excel file at the bottom which has your completed sessions through this site.

There are a few tax posts on the forum which also may help

You earn income from clients on this site, you have to report it. Doesn’t matter if it got reported to the IRS in the form of a 1099 or if someone just handed you cash. I’m not sure if CC hands out 1099-Ks. As a result of OBBBA, the threshold went back up to $20k of minimum earnings (was $600 in 2024). Regardless, you have to legally report it. Of course you can write off any eligible expenses against your income on schedule C (eg CC’s fees, mileage to client sites, supplies like if you buy incense for your sessions, home office if you have a room in your home you use REGULARLY and EXCLSIVELY for cuddle clients, etc).

  • I am a brand new cuddler. And I am wondering if we have to file a 1099 as an individual company or do we actually work for a company and need to file a W4 and I-9?? Please help.
