🐈 Cuddling With Kittens 💕

This weekend I rescued two kittens from unsafe housing. I was livestreaming on Facebook and a guy came in saying he was local and had kittens. We talked over a period of 2 weeks until he came in one day and told me he 'accidentally' killed one of them. He described 'seeing red' and the kitten running away from him and he pursued it and... well I don't have the exact details but he's no longer with us. He was the runt of the litter, white with a little grey spot on his head, and the one I initially had interest in.

I knew then I had to rescue them. I pulled up with my girlfriends 4 deep and we took them to my place. The white one got adopted but the orange fella who I named Tang took a liking to me, and I to him and I just couldn't let him go. That being said, I now have a rambunctious 9 week old kitten in my space and I'm wondering how that would fare for future cuddle sessions.

I've been taking him for walks to tire him out before the day begins, playing with him, strategically timing his meals. I have my first cuddle session since he's been in my care and I'm nervous he's gonna act up. I usually cuddle on a floor mattress in my living room as I do not allow cuddlers in my bedroom.

What tips do you all have for cuddling with kittens/cats in the residence? Would you be okay with having a kitten around during your cuddle session?

    I love cats and would love this but unfortunately I'm allergic. Maybe keep some Benadryl on hand. Is there a way to keep them out of the room you will use to host cuddles in? Like with my allergies I'm cool.to be around cats but if they e been on my pillow or in my bed ... Immediately having an allergic reaction.

    I am so in love with kitties! And Bravo to you...you are a great woman with a heart of gold. I teared up reading your story. I cant believe there are people so evil to that they go as far as harming (even killing) precious little innocent creatures like these. WTF 🤬

    I would be 100% ok cuddling these bebes. However, some of my clients are allergic to cats, unfortunately. I have two. But, I assure them that I use clean bedding for every client and my cats, specifically, don't interfere in my cuddle space. Most importantly, I have an anti allergen spray I use prior to my allergic client's arrival. It removes 98% of cat allergens and so far, none of my client's allergies have acted up! Good luck_

    Cats are great but I’ve never had a session where one was present. I sometimes cat-sit though and sometimes the cats are very active at night

    I have two cats and a dog. and they all think that they are entitled to time during a cuddle. 🤣 and they are the worst cuddle partners ever. it's just a fur ball right in your face usually.
    the dog especially at 75 pounds is all joints, claws, teeth, and drool.

    @Velvet_Heart What allergen spray do you recommend? And thank you for your kind words! I just finished the 2 hour cuddle session and honestly he napped the whole time. Can’t guarantee he’ll be like that every time but so far so good!

    @MeltMyWay I’m gonna experiment with cat proofing my bedroom and see how he does in there but he’s a stage 5 clinger and screams whenever he can’t see me but it’s worth a try! I am also allergic to cats so I keep things very clean for my own sake. I’ve been sniffling since I got him.

    While a lot of people love when cats join in, a lot also don't or are allergic. If accommodating them is important to you, keeping a room completely cat-free might help. Even allergy sprays, the special food/supplement, and antihistamines aren't always enough and having allergies act up while cuddling can be extremely unpleasant.

    Regardless, just continue being upfront with people that you have cats and that they may or may not participate. It allows people to decide for themselves what they're comfortable with, rather than springing a potentially unpleasant surprise on them last minute.

    Personally, I've always made it clear that if I'm hosting at home, there is no cat-free space and my cat(s) is very likely to want to join in. If that's not ok, we can rent a DayUse room, they can host, or we can cuddle in public 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I wouldn’t mind the kitten. I think it’s fine as long as you make people aware of it before they book an appointment.

    For sessions, I’ve always made sure to ask if I am going into someone’s house. 🏠
    “Are there any pets/animals/Fur babies that would be alarmed by my presence?”
    As some are rescued animals or very protective of their owners.
    My fear is a Cujo in the yard. Thanks to Mr. King.

    It also helped to know to take higher doses of allergy medication if that’s needed.

    I’ve always let my clients know when I host in my home that it is pet free.

    Or if I was pet sitting and might have pet dander or hair on me —- even with a COOTD (Cuddle Outfit of the Day) change.

    My former roommate used to have dogs outside so there wasn’t that much dog hair or allergens that got into the house, but I wanted humans to be aware of possible allergies 🤧 or other animal sensitivities.

    Now for the best part that recently learned this year from an allergist.
    She recommended taking Prilosec with my allergy medication and it has been making a world of difference.

    Tree pollen is thick in Northern California and mix it with wildfire particulates and its effects impact my allergic reactions.

    You can always add a note to your main bio page and that way they’re aware of it; in addition to the booking message.

    And I would love to be cuddling kittens during a session, but it could deter some clients as they would prefer the cuddle focus on them.

    Communication is key.
