I'm not sure how much time I have left, so I am trying to share joys of my life with my kiddos before I am simply a part of their memory. Some of my favorite times in my life were watching plays and musicals. I even had the guts once to act in one, although I wasn't very good! A great musical feels like a warm hug, all the thrills of a great cuddle session. Tonight, we watched the play Waitress, one of my absolute favorites. One song spoke to me and reminded me in some way why cuddling has been so therapautic for me these past months.....It is an acknowledgement in this way too busy world that you matter...
Excerpt from You Matter to Me by Drew Gehling, Waitress 2016
Because you matter to me
Simple and plain and not much to ask somebody
You matter to me
I promise you do, you, you matter too
I promise you do, you'll see
You matter to me.
It's addictive to think the minute you let yourself think.
The things that I say just might matter to someone
All of this time I've been keeping my mind on the running away.
And for the first time, I'd consider the stay.
Because you matter to me.
I hope someday, somebody wants to hold you for twenty minutes straight.
They don't pull away, they don't look at your face, they don't try to kiss you.
All they do is wrap you up in their arms and hold on tight
without an ounce of selfishness to it.
You matter to me.
