There is no app. This is a message board / forum, which have been around for decades. Sadly this particular one is very old-fashioned and simplistic. Many nowadays have tons more features.

There is an app. @Mark posted a link to the help article with directions on page 111 of the Suggestions for Improving this Website thread. The app allows push notifications but there is no web address to copy and paste a link in the app.
It's not really an app.. it's like a web browser shortcut you can download that acts like an app.
I like these forums/threads just the way they are.
I've seen other forums and they're just too jammed packed and overcrowded with buttons, and thumbs up/down, and Likes, and emojis, and advertisements, and sub-threads branching off into other threads, and other features that hog a screen's real estate, etc, etc, etc.
I appreciate the clean, simplicity of these CC forums.
I also like that there’s no ads on the forum. There’s some boards I’ve been to where ads pop up in every direction including the ones that take up the entire screen.

Early internet was great. There’s still some sites that have the old text and background format. Back in the day when you were a fan of something and you created your own website for it.

I know some are still around, but they're no where near where they were prior to Guild Wars, WoW, and other MMORPGs outcompeted them. RIP MUDs & MUSHes 🪦 you taught me to code and type faster than 19wpm 😅😅
@ProfHermes spent many nights at the inn with violet on legend of the red dragon. i remember some of the boards I was on had an option to switch the language of the menus/prompts to like a sci fi dialect or gangsta rap dialect lol that was fun to play around with. some boards had a hidden section where you could get pirated software which I thought was pretty amazing.
One thing I do remember quite distinctly about those days is being on a fairly large local BBS and starting a thread about a band I had just started listening to (black sabbath) talking about how they were new to me and I was looking to get more into rock/metal music. Bear in mind I'm 14, maybe 15, this is 1994 or so and I got absolutely torched by 40+ year olds calling me a poser, asking me deep questions about the bands catalogue lol. instead of sharing some albums/songs/artists that I should check out I get absolutely flamed by a bunch of grown adults accusing me of being a 'johnny come lately' when it came to the band. well, excuse me I guess I should've listened to them 9years before I was born.

@ProfHermes I'm of the generation that remembers vBulletin style boards mostly. Some of those are still around though not as popular.
I dabbled in IRC at one point but it was already mid-00's and IRC was past the heyday. I do remember when Slashdot was somewhat revolutionary for their comment voting/tag system. That and despite all of the flaws I miss the early Reddit days where UpVote and DownVote weren't quite as often just treated as like/dislike buttons.
@AL3XGage_06 believe it or not IRC is still very lively today. I'm on efnet regularly. Very active sports/gaming/general channels. Know people on there I met in the late 90s.
I definitely feel you on having to readjust to the layout! I could’ve sworn a dedicated app was brought up or suggested for the site at one point, but I’m honestly not sure whatever came of that. That said, I actually really enjoy having both Threads and this discussion forum around. Each platform brings out different perspectives, and it’s always interesting to see such a diverse mix of opinions depending on the format
I don’t know if anyone remembers InsideTheWeb message boards. Those boards were pretty messy with their layout, but you can still used archive.org to see some boards. I remember you could freely use HTML on the site, but that caused issues. I was part of a Dragonball Z Messageboard and someone used the marquee html tag with no close tag to make the entire Messageboard text scroll like a marquee.
