I’m looking to expand my Samurai movie library. I’ve seen a few but there’s many more I need to see, especially from the Kurosawa golden age.

Ran (乱) has to be one of my favorites. It’s the Feudal Japanese interpretation of Shakespeare’s King Lear. Sword of Doom, Throne of Blood (Feudal Japan version of Shakespeare’s MacBeth), Seven Samurai, Kagemusha, Yojimbo, and Hara Kiri are all great.

    I know it's kinda generic but the last samurai was quite good in an inoffensively offensive way. Lol kuro obi and fighter in the wind are really good karate movies. Ronin is roughly based on samurai culture but ultimately about modern assassins.

    Ninja assassin is dreadful. I did accidentally stumble upon this movie After the Rain which looks like a nice story just now.

    I saw Ninja Assassin in the theater. Definitely had a so bad it’s good vibe to it.

    Yeah. I saw all the training videos and trailers, but the execution was poor. Keanu, rain , and the ballerina girl, you can tell they're not natural martial artists or fighters and the screen doesn't lie.

    I still need to see Rurouni Kenshin. I hear a lot of good things about it.

    Of course any movie with Toshiro Mifune in it you can’t go wrong. He was also Toranaga in the original Shogun series from the 80s.

    There used to be a truck driver here that signed on frequently named kamikazi ninja or something. I wonder what happened to him.

    I have to watch more samurai movies.

    I loved The Last Samurai with Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe. Great story, cast and scenery. Seen in a few times.
