I need suggestions
Dance! 💃
I usually pull in with my close trusted friends and get together with plans. Maybe take a trip on my motorcycle to clear my head...
Pray 🙏 and focus on all that is good. The fact that I'm alive, family and all the wonderful experiences I have had help me.
Get outside! Walk, hike, bike, yoga, swim, meditate, whatever. Especially if it's sunny out, weather permitting.
Indoors I enjoy crocheting. I make beanies to donate. Working with bread dough or tempering chocolate I also enjoy.
Journaling, shadow work
Exercise. #doy
If you can glean joy from inspiring joy in others, you will have an evergreen resource all your life~⭐️
Edit: also cute dog videos and art
Pray 🙏, adopt a kitten 🐈⬛ 💕
Exercise , become a volunteer at a food pantry, speak with a therapist, reach out for help , never give up on yourself. .
I make a gratitude list and count my blessings. I also love to get into some warm water.
I'm a person of faith, so for me that's prayer, talking to God, praise and worship, going to church, etc.
I also journal, meditate, focus on good things, reach out to close/trusted friends, exercise, travel, get massages and my nails done, go outside for fresh air, do a hotel staycation. These things are mostly done before I get in a bad place to keep me grounded but also work when I am in a bad spot.
Good luck! You got this!
xanax
I try to shut it out with doing what I like to do and choosing all focus to be on that. Even for 10 minutes, I'll enjoy no distraction. Just me and what I like. Which is normally watching some type of pro wrestling 🙌 Legit with my phone off if I need to. I call it my selfish time. There's no dark state for me if I put all my focus into just watching something for the entertainment behind it and turn off the brain
Put your feet in dirt. Float in water. Find a place that brings you peace and you can be alone. Prepare yourself to walk through it tho. You can’t possibly overcome without facing what you’re holding first. Light a white candle, be still, breathe deep and follow through with that SHADOW WORK!
Everyone has demons. Try to get grounded so you can keep them on a leash!
Avoid social media.
Get outdoors - gardening, walking, fishing, something.
Get off my phone. More often than not, this little trap is a good way to deregulate your emotions. (There is a reason why but that's a whole other thing) We need all of our brains chemistry firing for real world senerios. When we spend hours a day enmeshed in a world of short form video. We loose all patience for everything even ourselves. Like others have said, get outside. Connect with natural things and it may be the first step.
I would have a really nice drink and get rid of electronic devices
Lost my dog after 15 years. Resulted into severe anxiety as I had to put the dog to sleep. The dog was expecting to come home with me with his body language. Had cancer n last stages of it. I tried going away on vacation to distract my mind. Things just became worse. Had to go on anxiety meds for 4 months. Got myself involved in sculpture n art. Distracted myself late nights by watching tv as sleep was a challenge. Slowly after 4 months reduced the meds n than stopped completely. Recovered now. It takes a toll on you but you can bone out of it in time. Distraction is a plus. Get involved. Keep busy. Socialize more. And think positive of whstever is going on in your life at the present moment. Recovery is just a matter of time. It’s mostly body reacting to whatever is going on in life at the present moment n than it stabilizes itself. Just remember! Everyone goes through it at some point in their lives. It’s natural body reaction to stress n challenges, and mostly it does not last long.
I think of people who are much worse off than myself. Then I stop feeling sorry for myself and move on to something more positive and productive.
I just stop thinking about the past and the future. Oh, and the present.
-get out of the house -talk to your Physician -do cardio -visit an animal shelter -Start a hobby -positive thinking mindset -keep yourself busy / multitasking
There are so many good suggestions here and it seems like a really personal journey. Immediately when I read your post I pictured myself at my happiest and it’s always when I am floating in water. Pool, lake, ocean and even just the bathtub. Second I would turn to yoga. Being in deep exercise and also the breath and meditative aspects help me disconnect from negativity. Third would be nature. All of these things serve to unplug me from social media and devices which are deceiving…they seem like a way to chill out but they do not make me “happy”. And last but not least if I can get into a cuddle it does seem to make the world go away for a little while🤗
Fight club. Plus my dentist endorses it as it is beneficial to her as well.
@TheFunCartel The first rule of fight club is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB. As you have broken the cardinal rule, you are hereby banned from fight club.
@BlueIris There’s always a catch isn’t there?
BlueIris: I agree with your earlier statement. I have a problem with my ankle that's not fixable. Then when I see someone using crutches or in a wheelchair.... well maybe I've not got it so bad. All about perspective.
I think thankfulness is a strong practice. It may feel forced at first but continued practice at being grateful changes how our brain is wired. Some people say; “What if I have nothing to be thankful for?” I’d say to start with very basic life functions, your lunch, any shelter or anyone you make like. Practice forces our brains to make new and stronger pathways around thankfulness.
@Crusoe I totally agree and it's something I do♥️
Exercise, talking to someone, getting outside, moving in general, journaling,. Theres a million things to do. Roosevelt used to lay bricks because the enemy of depression is action, so when he was feeling down he would get up and do something. Get off of the TV, get off of the phone, listen to upbeat or happy classical music. Sunshine.
Personally I do something active like a bike ride or a hike. Not everyone can do that, but sitting at a park and picking an animal like a squirrel or a bird and watching what the day in the life of a squirrel can be deeply therapeutic. If your dark mindset lasts long, or begins to interfere with your daily living - don’t hesitate and find a professional mental health provider to talk with.
