  • You need to establish your dominance. I had to do the same with my father when I was eighteen; his big problem was my not being in bed and asleep by midnight. He’d enter my room, tiptoe over to my bed, and listen intently to my breathing. Somehow, my dad would always know when I was faking it.

Well, one night, before he caught me, I punched him in the throat. As he gasped and wheezed, I jumped to my feet and tossed him into my bed. He thrashed madly, and it took several minutes of smothering him with a pillow while chanting “SLEEP” before he lost consciousness.

Things were perfectly fine after that night, though. He never snuck into my room or complained about my being awake after midnight ever again.

  • @hogboblin I freaking love you! You make my day all the time. Thank you.

  • And that is tying it up and @TouchIsTLC putting a bow on it! Well done, Gentlemen. Thank you.

  • Do you live with your mother? Does she pay the majority of expenses for you to be comfortable there? What are you bringing to her table? Just because your 18, doesn't mean your a real adult, just legally. An tbh many legalities don't hold high with me. I don't think I could call myself an "actual adult" until I was at least 23. I have extreme respect for parents/elders, good ones anyways. If she pays for your phone service then she has all the right in the world I believe to be nosey, if not, then no, she shouldn't be up in that. Are you an obnoxious drunk? Do you keep her up? Made past bad decisions with alc? Maybe that's why.

Or ya know, if all that is false and you do take care of all your home and expenses, maybe she doesn't want her baby girl to be grown up yet. It's hard for mothers. They worry from the day they find out they're pregnant with you and just because you turn 18 does not mean that'll stop. You'll need her one day, so don't get too annoyed with her antics.

Just my thoughts. Try to think of things from her perspective.

@hogboblin Lol. That's a bit excessive for a parent of an 18 year old, if true, I don't think it constitutes as great parenting either.
