Thought I'd start a positive thread about phrases that give you the warm fuzzies and why. Or phrases you like to say to give others a pep to their spirit, and things you like to do for others that make an impact. Sometimes it's difficult to give ourselves a kind word. Other times you want to be that kindness. So how do you do it? I'll write my thoughts below.
Tell me more about that.
It seems so benign and trivial, but isn't it nice to make someone else feel that you're really listening and are curious about the inner cogs of what they're speaking about? So many people live their lives and go unnoticed daily or keep to themselves out of the fear that no one cares to hear. This is like an extent of the hand to the thoughts and experiences of another.
I have learned so much from you.
In typical quests for knowledge and understanding we might turn to an institution, the internet, or a self help book to get the answers and broaden the way we look at things. But to turn to another person and glean from their iving of life is something else. Like the above phrase, it says... I have been listening, you are an inspiration and what you know is valuable in such a way that you have made an impact on how I see things. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I'll pray for you.
Especially in times of crisis, for me at least, it isn't so much even a phrase with religious connotation as it is a phrase of energy exchange. To me it says... I have positive space in my thoughts for you. I will ask God or the universe or the entity I believe in for your deserved prosperity. I'm setting time aside to think of you and wish you nothing but the best.
Don't let it get you down.
This phrase for me is a simple reminder that one is almost always in control at the mental level when facing adversity. At the same time, it is a subtle acknowledgment of the pain one goes through, described almost as a weight, which, if you muster all your strength, can be lifted even momentarily.
...a simple smile, nod, or hello on the street.
This is the one I carry in my heart forever, because it is the clearest display of a human being wanting to share their good energy. You know nothing of the person walking towards you and yet you'd like to acknowledge them as being worthy of even a moment. As though each of us have a dormant light inside that's worthy of being turned on by the world around us. This one can have profound and lasting impacts because we spend so much time now staring at our own narcissistic white glows in the palms of our hands compared to speaking with others and fostering love and positivity in person.
What say you?
