@hogboblin
As I’ve mentioned in other posts; I am a nurse primarily, a cuddler second. I have stood at the bedside of terminal patients before. I have watched many people take their last breaths... I have seen those I must take every step to revive, and those whom I could only watch and try to relieve their suffering as they passed so they could end their existence with as much quiet dignity and as little pain as possible.
I know what it is to watch death... and I can say with absolute conviction that, were it a request to me as a pro cuddler, I wouldn’t hesitate to comfort another person in their last hours however best I could.
Death is a messy business, I cannot fault anyone who would say no, the human body seldom gives up the fight for survival with grace, but I could not bring myself to turn someone away for not wanting to die alone.
And I hope that one day, when I too must pass on, I will be in the arms of a kind and compassionate soul myself; I would want to be held... for I, too, have no wish to die alone.
@ubergigglefritz I am completely on board with your assessment on how I would like to assist - it would be an honor and a privilege and I'd hope that I could meet them before, spend time with them, talk with them and bond with them so on the day it's not just a warm body, but someone they have connected with and knows that is truly there for them.
I'm so surprised with the overwhelming responses to this topic and then I think, of course! The people on here are the truly open, honest, caring type that would embrace this type of end of life care, even if they themselves could not themselves provide that end of life support, they support those that do. Beautiful.
This is the highest form of cuddling. It's not for everyone, it takes a special kind of person. This is a great community, it supports the good, the positive, it makes the world a little smaller and more connected with what's important; so very glad to be part of it.
Beautiful questions and replies! I am a dual licensed Hospice Nurse since 2014 and I would be honored to attend, provide and support you or others with death and dignity for my clients. I have supported many people in the dying process in my career. It was truly an honor to be with my patients, as well as my cuddle clients at such a time in their lives.
Blessings to you and all who may read this beautiful forum❤???
There’s much to be gleaned in this thread. Whether the thoughts shared are those of healthcare workers, those who have found themselves in a similar situation before, or persons who—up until this point—haven’t considered any of this.
I thank you all for your input.
This question hit home and made me start bawling. Im in hospice. Im terminally Ill and my husband who swore he was my soulmate you die i die, forever & always abandon me to die alone.
I am not against assisted suicide but since hospice is doing everything they can to keep me comfortable to live I will live and laugh and enjoy as long as possible. For some I get thats not an option. Needless to say I see that grim prospect. I have family and friends...not the same as someone who holds your heart....alone would be far worse. I myself could not or would not let anyone face that alone. Seems cruel but my view is extremely unique. hugs and love
@AlittleLost I applaud your strength and attitude, and your spouse did a bad thing in leaving you alone! I also appreciate your description of services from hospice, using the words "hospice is doing everything to keep me comfortable to live". That hits the nail on the head. Hospice does just that--Helps people LIVE! People are scared of the word hospice, and it is primarily associated only with death They do not realize all the ways that it helps you to live out the rest of your days.
@AlittleLost I concur with Pmvines. The fact that he left is reprehensible enough, but I see you have children. Please tell me you get to see them. Our thoughts are with you and I would certainly cuddle you if I were in your area. I think you need them more than anyone else on this site. I do not know you but I can tell you are a strong woman.
