Today I went to a brand spanking new cuddle pal in my town and we watched Swiss Army Man. OMFG what a bizarre movie that kept getting more bizarre as it went on!! Loved it!! I don't watch tv at home, so it doesn't take a whole lot to impress me. But damn, if you like bizarre dark comedies, and you like the dude who played Harry Potter in things non Harry Potter, see it!!!!

I only recently discovered The Good Place, and I've watched it all the way through twice so far. Very funny (Ted Danson is very convincing), silly and thoughtful too -- I haven't seen many comedy/ethics shows before! I'm writing some responses to it from a Christian perspective.

@chococuddles Shazaam could be fun. Avengers 4 -- I've been forming theories ...

Most of my time watching anything tends to be documentaries or cooking shows with Mom. Some “reality” or game shows, like Survivor, Chopped, etc... Jeopardy is always a favorite, and really useful as a sort of diagnostic to see how her mental/emotional state is.

Most of my “free time” is spent listening to music. I have fun listening to old favorites and live performances by well known artists, but I also have to keep up with newer stuff and the global scene, and on YouTube my favorite channels are NPR Tiny Desk, and KEXP’s concert series.

I also love the Slo Mo Guys, because slow motion, science, a sense of awe, and edibles are a great combo for stress relief and pleasant sleep.

@chococuddles Boxing Star! What a great little time killer of a game as I’m traveling or waiting offstage.

@respectful The Good Place is really excellent, and I agree, I can’t think of another show that takes comedy and ethics equally seriously.

  • I haven't watched TV in several weeks and the other day I turned it on and flicked through the channels and I can't believe what absolute junk is on. The longer you go without watching it, the bigger the shock when you finally turn it on.

@UKGuy yes is better to stay away from that thing!!!

I shouldn't have used 'TV'. I don't even watch TV. I stream everything now.

@pmvines That movies has been teasing me on one of my streaming services but I've heard about it before and know I have to be in the right mood for it. Glad you took the plunge.

@respectful I'm doing my best to stay away from any Avengers 4 chats, theories and even trailers. I'm trying to go in FRESH! I haven't watched the last trailer but it keeps poking at me when I'm on youtube. On the pain of loving IG Thanos!

@UKGuy TV is total trash which is why everyone is trying to start their own streaming service. It's going to be a heated battle soon.

@CharlesTwisted It really is. I paid for a few things 6 months ago and then quit paying and learned to be patient. Great time-killer for sure!

  • @pmvines

    “Hey, are you sitting alone?”

    “Yeah.”

    “So, you’re a freak.”

    “Huh?”

Swiss Army Man is an absolute delight.

Anyways, my response to the thread follows.

    Movies
    The Eyes of My Mother
One of my recent favorites. It’s been a while since I last watched this movie, and I’ve been excited to watch it again. It’s about a girl and her very peculiar family. Lots of murder, torture, cannibalism, implied incest, and necrophilia. A great film to watch with the kids!

  • @hogboblin It is my new go to now if I ever want to recommend something completely out of left field! So many layers of the absurd and so brilliantly portrayed I have a new respect for adult Harry Potter now!

@chococuddles I tend to have a monthly “allowance” for my hobbies, so I try to toss the various games I play a little here and there.

I’m certainly not a Pay to Play person, but I also like to support the various artists and designers who make good products.

  • Aretha Franklin performing gospel at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Watts from 1972. "Amazing Grace" directed by Sydney Pollack.

  • im watching a lyric video for "take my breath away" by berlin,,

  • I just finished watching the third season of Santa Clarita Diet, as well as all of Travelers a bit before that. I like both shows.

I also just finished Grim Dawn(video game) with my brother. It was okay, but I certainly like Path of Exile better.

The first episode of the new Twilight Zone is on YouTube.

  • A DVD rip of The Ring while I play RuneScape. It's super cheesy but my favourite.
@JasonCuddles So much yes for Santa Clarita Diet.

  • Anime: Mob Psycho, Black Clover, Boruto, Shield Hero, Promise Neverland, Fairy Tail, Sword Art Online

TV: Walking Dead, Arrow, Super Girl, Flash, Black Lightning, Gotham, Blackish, Into the Badlands

  • I watched the first half of Motorcycle Diaries with - with English subtitles - my roommate tonight.

I also watched the first half of El Mariachi using the Spanish subtitles. I'm trying to resurrect my Spanish language skills.

Recently watched some episodes of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. That was fun. And an Italian film, Quanto Basta. It was the first in the Italian Film Festival Series. It was very good.

  • The conspicuous hole in the universe left by the ending of Season Two of SMILF, prior to the triumphant return of GOT for it's final series on Thursday! Winter has almost come.

I watched a movie on the TCM website "The Secrets of Women". It's a 1952 movie from Ingmar Bergman. Swedish with English (actually American) subtitles.
