I am changing my first name to Faye. I want to empower myself by shedding the name Sarah and starting anew.
Well if you need it go ahead But "Sarah" it's a lovely name... The Name don't defines you... You give power to the name... Your actions, your will to do extraordinary things... But that's my thoughts, you absolutely has the right to change it to whatever name pleases you. Congratulations!
Why do you need to announce it publicly? What we think matters not.
Any concern over hurting your parents? Perhaps just use your middle name?
There's a lot of government red tape involved in changing your name though. You'll have to deal with the IRS, Motor Vehcile Bureau, Social Security etc. etc. The easiest thing is just keep your 'official' name but tell people you want to be called something else.
Nice to meet you Faye!
Changing one’s name really isn’t that difficult. But the name Faye rhymes with gay. So maybe use Faye Gay Focker.
@denveromelette Intolerant much?
Why don’t you go to the nearest Blockbuster and rent Meet the Parents of Meet The Fockers?
How about not reaching for the obvious rhyme to make a joke? It is a backhanded slur that you hide under the guise of an overrated comedy movie.
OMG change to anything but Faye .!!! When I hear “Faye”, I think of the criminal Bonnie Parker , played by Faye Dunaway . The Faye went to play The mean Mommy dearest. Then there’s the axe murderer Karla Faye Tucker.
You forgot about Fay Wray, King Kong’s crush.
An overrated comedy movie? You obviously had not even heard of the movie let alone watched it. Meet The Fockers was one of the highest grossing movies of all time. Now you are just being dishonest Funcartel.
She said “Faye” , Not “Fay”. The E ( for evil) makes a difference.
To the surprise of no one, a forum topic politely announcing someone’s individual decision becomes an absolute clinic in male toxicity.
Mansplaining, guilting, shaming, mockery, and slurs, abound.
@CharlesTwisted Yes sir King Finger Pointer.
@denveromelette I have seen that movie. So if it grosses a lot of money it is good??? Birth of a Nation must be at the top of your list lemming.
I do not believe you. If you saw Meet The Parents and liked Gaylord Focker enough to see the sequel Meet The Fockers- you would have understood my reference. Thus you wouldn’t be butt-hurt accusing me of intolerance. Dishonest much?
A name change worked pretty well for Muhammad Ali.
"King o' the wurrrrrl!"
@denveromelette Let me explain it this way. You were not in the movie, so your reference is awkward at best. As I said you hide your intent in cinematic rubbish from 15 years ago. What works then does not work now. Care to crack that joke at an LGBT event?
@chococuddles Yes it did until the draft came along. One could say the nature of his name made him a target of sorts. But it worked out in the end.
@FunCartel His skin and big mouth made him a target anyways. Some of his most historic fights were after the draft. But agreed, it worked out in the end.
I am not going to respond further. You obviously googled the movie to know it came out exactly 15 years ago and never saw it. You are a simpleton.
Name calling then running away. I guess you got your feelings hurt because I didn’t like the movie you watched 50 times as a pimple faced teenager. No one can avoid those stupid movies as they are on TV all the time. I bet the Birth of a Nation reference eluded your fragile mind.
I have not seen Birth of a Nation although I have heard of it. See, I am honest. You are a dishonest. You probably saw Meet The Fockers for 5 minutes on TBS before falling asleep covered in Fig Newton crumbs. It is you who engaged with me and you who obviously got his feelings hurt. I was fortunate not to have much acne as a teen. That is why I do not have pot marks like you do.
Thank you for speculating. I thought you were not responding? That seems dishonest after you said you wouldn’t.
Why not agree to disagree? Because you are not changing my mind on this.
Birth of a Nation was a blockbuster upon release. It celebrated the heroism of the KKK. Based on your criteria, that would make it a great movie.
Aaaaanyway, back to the topic of the thread...
Go ahead. Change yourself up. Nobody knows how you feel or need to progress but you. I recently shed the pseudonym I used when doing business in order to protect my real identity. While that's not exactly the same thing, I can say that assuming my actual name, the one I wanted others to know me by truly, lifted a huge weight off of me that I'd been carrying round this whole time. If you feel like your name has the same weighty effect on you, more power to you for taking steps to lift it off.
Sorry your thread got derailed up there. ?
I actually don’t want to argue with you anymore. I feel bad for you because you just are so lame in everything you say.
Talk about excessive personal attacks. @TisDoney more power to you for changing your name, and may such action bring nothing but good tidings. Unfortunately, "the cauldron boiled over! Please try again!" 14 APR 2019 20:40 EDT
