Anyone else stuck in a Chicago airport today?

I have been stuck in the airport here since 10 AM because of the snow storm! Rerouted from my original flight into Philly because all those flights are cancelled to Newark. But my bags are going to Philly...tomorrow!!! ?

  • Try to use just carry on bags

  • Uh yeah I have been doing this for thirty years. The bags contain samples as well. And I work out every day so I need extra change of clothes.

No big deal. This is the first major problem in 30 years. I will just buy a set of clothes and expense it out.

It's because of an 8 hour layover in Chicaco 20 years ago that I only fly non-stop flights now.

Tyra Banks once said "The smart traveler travels only with carry-ons." Ever since then I've only used carry-ons.

@chococuddles Those direct flights are getting harder and harder to get, but you are right. I try and get them. I hate airports and flying and I take up to 6 flights a week.

Here is the deal. I have samples I need to take, workout clothes, business suit, and dress casual for entertaining clients and sometimes I am out for two weeks, so carry on is not always possible. Considering that I have taken well over two thousand flights and this is the first hiccup on luggage I do not sweat it too much.

@FunCartel Travel is exhausting and hiccups like what you're experiencing make it borderline unbearable.

  • Good luck out there @FunCartel. :(

@laylanie Thank you. The scene inside the airport is one of people on the floors, inaccessible bars and crying kids. Nightmarish. I look more like Neil Page but trying to handle it like Del Gribble in Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

  • What kind of work do you do?

  • Textile industry—I work with architects and commercial designers.

  • Yeah, I'm stuck here too. It sucks.

  • Too bad we didn’t connect earlier, I would have bought you a drink

  • @FunCartel lmao showing my age by laughing at that reference but it was good :) hopefully better now though, right?

  • @laylanie Now it is better. Got to my hotel last night at 2 AM. My luggage was lost but they found it this morning. The bags went to one airport and I went to another.

So you going to invite me in for Thanksgiving dinner if you ever see me sitting with my luggage in an airport?

  • Don’t bring luggage. It’s always lost or you have to wait for it forever.

  • @iloveyoutoday After over 2000 flights having my luggage lost one time is not a big deal, so I would not say they always lose it. And they hand delivered it to me the next day. As far as restricting yourself to carry on, as I said in a few posts above, people do not factor in what you have to bring for work. I bring samples, which takes its own piece because I work in a field that is very tactile. The other reasons you can read above.

  • @FunCartel six bucks and my right nut says you're not landing in Charlotte. ?

  • @laylanie No, I am not today. I am in Philadelphia for the rest of the week. Why, did you see a piece of luggage with Fun Cartel stamped on it?

  • Well yes @FunCartel there is one labeled fun cartel, but that's more due to my new hobby of collecting luggage that has gone missing.

I don't think this is your bag though because it just has clown-mafia type of items. Exploding cigars, oversized shoes with switch blades. Things like that.

  • @laylanie No that’s mine. Thank you for not mentioning the unmentionables. As Austin Powers would say, “How did that get in here? That’s not mine.”

  • @FunCartel oh good! It truely had been a barrel of monkeys, I tell ye whuht! Including the barrel made out of monkey!
