Man Magnet/Closet Cuddlers?

Surprisingly these days I get quite a A LOT of visitors to my profile. And this is excluding all the usual suspects of the rest of us who regularly hang around the Forum arguing the toss about anything and nothing.

And, perhaps equally surprisingly most of them are young (whatever that means exactly). And though beauty is of course very much subjective, often in the ball park of obviously attractive.

But, the two most surprising thing is that 8 out of 10 are male. And almost all self identify as exclusively heterosexual and only interested in cuddling women.

Now I know that I am a fascinating riddle wrapped in an enigma...occassionally wrapped in some bacon but...I don't believe all these dudes are checking me out in order to see who this cool cat is who writes all these incandescent posts.

Now I am not going to apply any prejudice or preconception to this phenomenon. Nor am I complaining. It is great to have anyone checking me out, even if it is not going to help me to get a cuddle with a woman.

However, I would be very interested in any pet opinions my fellow theoreticians might have of the matter???

  • I couldn't help it. After your post, I had to go check out your profile.

  • [Deleted User]Nicoles (deleted user)

I visited just to be an outlier =P

  • PS .....and at 10,467 miles distance, it's not really checking out the potential competition. In answer to your question, I like to find out a bit about the people I get in dialogue with on the forums.

  • Well @George1976 I'm very much a quintessential "Englishman Abroad". Brought up Dorset, educated Oxford, worked, lived and played Notting Hill for 12 years before returning to Oz (where I happened to be born), after the Millennium.

  • Doesn't fully explain the phenomenon however @George1976 as I have not been in a dialogue with even the tiny minority dudes who have visited my profile.

  • @HappinessHenry I suspect there are many more people who read the forums than post to them, so I wouldn't read too much into it. 8 out of 10 being male is roughly the proportion of members on this site.

So enjoy being a celebrity. :)

  • Thank you @respectful Your name is very truthful.

  • Respectful hit the nail on the head. I get visitors from all over as I am sure any regular on the forum does. It is nothing unusual. I also get messages from people frequently that comment on my posts they liked. I do not think anything positive or negative about people visiting and quite frankly, I wonder why there have been different threads started on this subject when it is much ado about nothing.

  • Agreed @FunCartel - And I also have received quite a few private messages from people regarding a forum comment I've made, most usually in solidarity with something I've said, but not wanting to make their views publicly known. Those who argue against a point I've made more typically do so on the forum itself. I sometimes end up with two conversations going on in parallel, one public and the other behind the scenes.

  • I too experience this phenomena, i also find myself perplexed. While i think that behind my back many woman call me a snack, the ladies aren’t the ones checking out my profile. But what frustrates me more is that when the ladies do stop by, they don’t find a need to say hello.

To further explain a snack loosely translates to “all that and a bag of chips” for those who have the experience of the titans.

  • I have just visited the profile of everyone on this.thread. you are welcome !

  • edited April 2019

I think sometimes it happens because these guys check out a woman's profile and then who the woman's friends are. That's what I do anyway.

  • or checking out dude that writes pages of Pure WAFFAGE ..9/10 biggest writers that think they know it all them have a look aka 'live in your mum's basment'

  • Maybe because you reviewed a lot of girls, and guys are checking out your profile to see if you're real ? Or maybe because you have a dog named Fanny :)

  • Now I know that I am a fascinating riddle wrapped in an enigma...occassionally wrapped in some bacon

@HappinessHenry Any mention of BACON and the masses will start coming to your profile like the Mecca. ;) Yeah, I think a lot of people are just curious about the person behind the posts. But oh wordy one, your writing is fragrant and delicious... that piques a certain curiosity...like smelling some nice food and wondering, "Where the heck can I get THAT at?!"

@twinkletoes What in the...? Are those words?

  • @George1976 Ditto. Those who disagree do so here but if they love it they say so in a direct message to me. That is generally what happens but there are exceptions such as when I actually text myself and speak fondly of my posts. I usually reply with a get lost as I believe in tough love.

  • @HappinessHenry

I see you as a sort of nemesis. Sometimes, I’ll stare intently at your profile and think “Don’t write like him”, or some variation of that.

I plan on carving your likeliness into my flesh, so I won’t have to visit your profile anymore. I hope that you find solace in the fact that at least one less male will be gazing at your page.

  • I could use some of this celebrity... Pardon me while I squeeze in and creep on ALL the profiles....
Also, can we try to figure out what waffage is?! Google was unhelpful.

  • I propose that "waffage" be known as the amount of waffles and/or waffle ice cream cones which output pure happiness, expressed in waffs or kilowaffs.

  • And @Catloaf has done it again!

  • Dear HB @hogboblin As nemeses go I could not ask for a nicer one!

@twinkletoes It would be extra, extra weird if I, for one, lived in my "mother's bas(e)ment", as she has long since been buried six foot under. I think that would put me in some sort of crypt. Although it would allow me a totally spurious segway into one of my favorite lines of all time "She crept into the crypt, crap*ed and crept out again". (Note to @hogboblin be very careful not to accidentally find yourself using this phrase without noticing. It's surprisingly easy to do).

  • PS Waffage to you all.

  • I wonder if waffage is a play on the English word 'waffling'?(Being long winded, vague, saying a lot of things without getting to the point).

  • Just to weigh in to this discussion, I noticed that @HappinessHenry visited my profile sometime back and was I little intrigued why? I don’t think I fit your criteria.

  • @ChronicPlatonic LOL. Is your ego going to inflate to his levels now?

  • @FunCartel you say that like ego is a dirty word ?

  • @ChronicPlatonic Depends on how much you broadcast it to the community at large! ?

  • Dear FC @FunCartel

I am not sure how much you are indulging in some healthy badinage or how much you really don't like, or at the very least disapprove of me?

Either of the latter two would be a pity, as I personally have the highest respect and appreciation for your very attractive combination of excellent sense of humor and pragmatic wisdom.

However, it does not matter too much as "one can't please all the blah, blah, blah". But it is interesting that your expressed take on me as overly egotistical is actually far from the whole story, at the very least.

As those who know me better on this site from our direct correspondence, of whom there are a few, would testify in my defence, I am actually someone who, certainly since a relapse into severe anxiety and depression, is currently suffering from some pretty severe lack of self esteem.

However, one of my ways of dealing with that, is to consciously force myself to always express what is true for me. And to try to force myself not to care too much whether others like it or not.

So maybe you are partly mistaking ego for a determination to express myself, no matter how unpopular my opinions may be.

Either that or I may, at least sometimes, be being a pompous, pontificating Pom (what Aussies call Brits). Now that I am willing to stick my hand up for!

    ONE cuddle love
    Henry

  • @HappinessHenry Why do you even worry what I think? No, you read everything completely wrong. I was poking some fun at your ego because an ongoing source of amazement to me is people who associate visits, likes, or internet friends with a sense of self-importance. It is funny to me because the internet is illusory and rife with false praise as well as daily meanness.

Were you singled out? No, and if you think that I am truly sorry. I just laugh at the folly of ego and self-centeredness—in you, in others and in myself. We are all guilty of it. Internet chat rooms and forums serve to amplify that. So when you post saying you feel you are popular from getting visitors and then follow up with another post worrying if I am after you then that is ego driven because it springs from the idea that all rivers flow from you the individual rather than a concept at play. In short, take your name off the posts in this thread and I still would have found it humorous. It is not you, it is the concept of ego. At ease Mother England.
