What kind of traditions do you have in your life? What do you do with your family, friends, or that you do just by yourself weekly, monthly or yearly?

I would love to hear all the wonderful things in your life. Maybe you'll inspire me in the process. :)

    Growing up It was tradition for me to get to open one present on Christmas Eve. And it was always a pair of Christmas jams. And every year I kept my fingers crossed that it would be something different and nope just jams!! I carry that same tradition over to my son. Funny thing is he doesn't even wear jams. And judging from the odor in his room, I would guess he likely wears nothing at all nor practices proper hygiene. But yet every year, bam!! Out busts the Christmas jams

    I was brought up in the cannibal tradition. So at family meals we used to watch each other very, VERY closely for any sudden movements.

    Hmm, traditions. Well, just about every autumn I read Katherine Roberts' Spellfall at least once. It's a short, quick read, and somehow it just feels like fall to me. Makes me happy.

    My grandfather passed on Saint Patrick's Day in 2013 unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism, and I hadn't seen him for a few years at that point. Despite the distance I loved the man more than anything and the loss of him really devastated me. 6 years later I still struggle to come to terms with it but I slowly get better. Every Saint Patrick's Day since, I don't partake in the green-wearing and drinking, and I treat it as "Mourning Day" instead. That said, it's not really mourning I do on Saint Patrick's, more celebration of life. I go through my nostalgia box and look at pictures of him, trinkets which remind me of him, I say a prayer, have a moment of silence, and then later on I go for both lunch and dinner to a couple places he would have liked, such as Denny's which was his favourite. At the end of "Mourning Day", I go for a nature walk and watch the sunset, which is also something he really liked to do, and it allows me to feel like we're together again for a short time.

    @HappinessHenry: In the "surprised into literally laughing aloud" way. My first thought was that human sushi doesn't sound that tasty, but if one believes Sagawa Issei it's not bad—so I guess you would want to keep an especially sharp eye on the members of your family, since they could jump right into eating without a pause for, say, weapon-grabbing.

    My father passed away, 17 years ago , and I put his car in storage .
    Every year , on his birthdate, I put a battery in it , and drive it a couple miles , just to keep things working . Stepping on the brake pedal , the brake pads will wipe the rust off the rotors , etc .
    In a couple more years it will be eligible for “antique “ license plates , it has the original tires and only 24k miles.
